Addressing the Case for Finance Transformation | CFO to CFO

Hi, I'm Ayelet Rotblat. I'm the CFO for Southeast Asia at SAP. Standing still or hoping that the wave of the microeconomic instability will just get better just leaves companies behind and most CFOs understand this. Most CFOs know that during time of disruption, they have to make a change either internally or externally to make sure that they stay ahead of their competition. And we offer a transformation of a finance organization as a path to do something different. From our experience, we always use the opportunity of instability of external measures to transform our finance organization internally. So if a finance organization, if a CFO is looking only at external impact to stabilize the company and is not utilizing the opportunity to transform their finance organization as well, they're usually missing a beat. Like any CFO, we need to look at where we add value into the business. and our major KPI is to reduce our GNA costs as a percentage of the revenue. This is a major driver for us. And every year we relook at where we are in that benchmark and we know we need to just do better. We kind of like look at our processes in this triangle and the service that we provide to the business in this triangle where we look to optimize the transactional activities and we want people to focus more on business and decision support. And with time, it gets harder and harder because every year we kind of like end up in a position where we thought we've squeezed that lemon and now we need to continue to squeeze it. There's only so much that we can optimize processes. There's only so much that we can utilize technology. The one plus the other needs to put the power in our customers' hands. And as we move more into customer self-service, we have to kind of like continuous squeeze that lemon even more, which is now the whole concept of AI where companies are looking into. I think for CFOs today, it's good to be educated, not in the depth of what features and functions are there, but where is money being invested in IT? So normally IT will have a budget where they say, okay, to operate today, it's going to cost X amount. And if you want innovation, where we talk about sustainability or AI or whatever the new acronym is for the year, we need additional spend. And I encourage every CFO to understand what SAP is offering to cover that cost. And I mention it because one of the challenges that is hidden costs is also the replication of data that needs to happen for AI. It's a big topic right now. So if you're storing all the data in the application and then need to move it into a storage that needs to run AI on it, that replication is usually a heavy cost. And if you're able to do it all within that same environment, that will free money from infrastructure into innovation and building agents and looking at your processes and investing in the latest and greatest. CFOs have an amazing opportunity to kind of like step up and be the star right now. Sustainability and AI and transformation are all topics that can make CFOs the star of the change that is happening in front of us as companies. And it's just cool to be a CFO.
