Comparing Statements of Work in SAP Fieldglass

Did you know you can easily compare versions of an SOW in SAP Fieldglass to see where changes have been made? There are always unforeseen factors to every project. Deadlines may need to be extended or shortened. Costs or rates may need to be renegotiated. The number of workers may need to be changed. That's why statements of work in SAP Fieldglass are flexible. Buyers can work with suppliers at any point in the process to amend the SOW. Of course, the bigger the project, the more the SOW may need to be amended. That's why SAP Fieldglass includes a feature that allows you to compare versions of an SOW to see where the changes have been made. Let's say you created an SOW for a project with a 10,000 budget and four completion events, each of which triggers a payment. The SOW has been approved and the project started, but the supplier realizes that the project cost is a little low, so raises the budget and some of the milestone payments. Here is how you could compare versions of the SOW to see what changes have been made. You'll get a notification that the revised SOW is ready for review, so you'll go to your Work Items menu and select Review in the SOW Revision section of the menu. Then you'll select the SOW to review. You want to compare the changes the supplier made against the last version of the approved SOW. You do that by selecting the Actions button, and selecting the View Versions link from the Actions menu. A modal window appears, prompting you to choose which version of the SOW you want to compare to the one you're currently reviewing. From this point forward, a notice will show on each page of the SOW indicating that you are comparing versions. The versions you are comparing are indicated in the message. You want to compare the maximum budget against the originally negotiated budget, so you click the Details tab. When comparing versions, changes are indicated in each revised field. The information from the previous version of the SOW appears as strikethrough text. The revised information appears within a colored box. The colors indicate the type of change. The blue shown here indicates that the information has been edited. If the box were red, it would indicate that the information was deleted. Green would indicate new information. Then you can click the Characteristics tab to review the cost changes for each milestone. The events that have been changed are indicated in the Change Type column as having been modified. To see the changes to the modified items, just select the item. The details for the selected item will appear below the list. You can see that the requested amount for the first event has been changed from $1,000 to $2,000. And the amount for the completion event has been modified to $5,000 from the original $4,000. When you're ready to accept the changes, you'll select the Edit button and continue on through the traditional process of approving an SOW. It's important to know that you can't compare versions of an SOW if its status is still pending. The comparison function only works with SOWs that are approved by all parties involved and are numbered as version 1 or higher. And that's how you can compare versions of an SOW.
