Configuring Email and SMS Templates in SAP Customer Data Cloud

Welcome to this video on configuring  e-mail and SMS templates.   In this video, we'll cover the process  of configuring e-mail templates,  detailing e-mail template types  and how to set their content,  and configuring SMS templates  for both OTP and TFA templates  with country-specific content.  Afterward, we’ll demonstrate  a new user welcome template  and an OTP SMS template configuration.  Customer Data Cloud can send various emails to your users.  These include confirmation emails like:  an account deletion confirmation e-mail,  a double opt-in confirmation e-mail,  and a password reset confirmation e-mail  verification emails for: code verification, E-mail verification, and TFA e-mail verification. Notifications for: welcoming new users, impossible traveler RBA policy detection, and unknown location scenarios.  And emails with: a link to access the Lite Preferences center, a reset password form or a magic link.   E-mail templates are set up as HTML templates with placeholders and META tags.   If there are multiple templates,  a default template must be selected.  The default language is English,  but you can select a different one  by choosing "Create New Locale"  and then switching the default selector.   Placeholders are variables replaced with actual values  when the e-mail is sent, like the user’s first name, last name, or e-mail address.   META tags define the header of the e-mail.   Supported META tags are "from",  which specifies the reply address of the e-mail, and "subject", which defines the subject  of the e-mail.   Customer Data Cloud allows you to define text templates  for SMS messages sent to users  as part of their site journey.  You can define different text templates  for messages sent via two-factor authentication  and one-time password flows.  You can also define text templates  for SMS messages based on country codes  and in multiple languages per country code.   Now, let’s configure a new user welcome template and a one-time password SMS template  in the SAP Customer Data Cloud console.   After logging in to the console,  go to Site Selector in the menu  and select the Site Domain  to which you want to change your templates.   Choose Email Templates under the User Interfacing menu.   The Templates section has a dropdown menu  with a selection of e-mail templates.   Select the New User Welcome template.   Then choose Create New Locale.   In the Select locale dropdown  select EN to for the English locale,  which is also the default locale.   Then, change the HTML template,  replacing the four “your-site-name” occurrences   with “Demo Website.”  Save and confirm.   Choose Connect under the Identity menu.   In the Email Policies section  check the New user welcome box.  Then choose Save.   Now let’s create a new user  to test receiving the welcome e-mail.   Choose UI Builder under the User Interfacing menu.   Then select the Default-RegistrationLogin screenset.   Select the Registration screen  and choose Preview.   Enter an e-mail, first name, last name, and password.   Agree to the Terms of Use.  Then submit the form.   You should receive a user welcome e-mail.   Now, let’s configure an SMS Template  for OTP login.   Return to the console  and choose SMS Templates  under the User Interfacing menu.   Select the OTP tab at the top,  then choose Add New   under Country Specific Content.  Select Australia from the dropdown,  then choose Next.   Set the language by choosing English  from the selection window.   Then select the new English entry.   In the content box, enter “Your OTP code is: }.”   Let’s configure an SMS Extension  to overcome the need to configure an SMS Provider.   Choose Extensions under the Orchestrate menu.  Choose Add to add a new extension.   Enter a name.  Let’s say Fake SMS Provider.   For API select Send SMS (OnBeforeSendSMS)  under Communication.   Enter a mock endpoint that returns a JSON status OK in the URL field.  Choose Save.   Set the newly created extension toggle to active.   Now, let’s try the One-Time Password flow.   In the menu, choose UI Builder again  under User Interfacing.   Select the Default-RegistrationLogin screen set.   Select the Mobile Login screen   and then choose Preview.   Choose Australia as the country.  Then, enter a fake mobile number.   Choose Get the Code.  Navigate to Extensions  under the Orchestrate menu.   Select the Logs tab at the top.   In the log list, we should see an entry  with the SMS text sent with the template  we previously entered.   This concludes our demo on configuring e-mail and SMS templates  in SAP Customer Data Cloud.   Thank you for watching.
