Configuring Notifications in Open Payment Framework

Hello, in this video, I will show you how to set up webhook notifications from Stripe to OPF, ensuring that transaction updates are reliably received based on service events. In the previous video, we authorized and verified transactions with Stripe, which successfully placed the order in SAP Commerce Cloud. However, the transaction remained in a waiting state. Let's review the verification component configuration on the authorization page. You'll notice that the third option is available, since browser-based verification via SAP Commerce Cloud's composable storefront can be implemented. However, for enhanced safety and reliability, it is generally recommended to use server-to-server notifications. So, how do you configure these notifications? In the general notification settings, you need to copy the notification URL for the specific payment integration first. This URL can also be found on the General Information page of the Payment Integration within OPF. Now, switch over to the Stripe Sandbox dashboard. In the Developer section, go to the Webhooks tab. Here, you'll add a new webhook destination. First, select the relevant event type. Stripe's documentation outlines various event types. For our demo, I'll select all payment intent -related events and direct them to OPF. Next, choose the webhook endpoint and enter the notification URL that we copied in OPF Workbench earlier, along with a descriptive label. After that, create the destination. You can test the webhook configuration by sending a test event using the Striped CLI. Or you can trigger an actual payment event. Let's do a checkout on the storefront, filling in the required details for the payment. Once the payment is completed and the order is placed, navigate to OPF and open the notification log tab. Here you can see two received events, such as Payment Intent Created and Payment Intent Succeeded, which confirm that notifications are functioning correctly. This completes the configuration of notifications in OPF.
