Creating  Contract Requests in SAP Ariba Contracts

Contract request creation is available to internal users, such as supplier managers, buyers, or procurement professionals who do not have the system permission to create contract workspaces. By creating such a project, they are able to notify contract managers there is a need for a new contract and provide as much information possible about it. In this video we will work with a contract request for a contract for IT items. First, we have to provide some basic information. During the contract creation it will be carried over to the contract workspace. We can enter supplier name, contract amount, region, agreement date and effective dates. The rest we will leave up to those in charge of the contract creation. Keep in mind that from a business perspective, further internal reviews or negotiations with the supplier might happen after the contract request was submitted. As any project in SAP Ariba, a contract request will require a template which will determine the life cycle of the request. As mentioned, this request will have to be sent to contract managers for review and approval. But before doing that, we must add any relevant information we might have on the contract that needs to be created. All files can be attached under the Documents tab. To submit the request to contract managers, we can use the approval task which was pre-configured in the request template. The contract manager receives the notification to approve the contract request. They will be notified by email and can also see the request under their To Do tasks. They can approve or deny the request. Once approved, a placeholder for a contract workspace is added to the contract request Documents tab. The contract manager can use this document to trigger the contract workspace creation. Notice that all header field information provided in the contract request has been carried over to the contract workspace. The contract request is set as predecessor for the contract workspace. The rest of the contract workspace creation and management is handled as usual. This concludes our overview on creating contract requests. Thank you for watching.
