Creating Custom CDS View in SAP Marketing Cloud

Hello and welcome to part one of the Analytics Enablement video series. This series consists of four parts. In part one, you'll focus on how to create custom CDs views in the marketing system. In part two, you'll learn how to create custom queries and how to use the view browser efficiently. In part three, you'll learn about SAP Analytics Cloud Stories. And in part four, you'll learn about data migration. In this video, we'll focus on the creation of data sources. Before you start, make sure you have a secure integration between SAP Marketing Cloud and SAP analytics Cloud implemented and running. Check whether you work on the new integrated version of SAP Analytics Cloud or on a manual integrated system connection. To do so, open the set up your marketing solution application within SAP Marketing Cloud as described in the Onboarding Guide on the official SAP help page. In this video series, we'll introduce you to Analytics Extensibility scenario. Whether you're going to analyze the efficiency of campaigns or check the brand value status. You'll learn the key set ups and processes necessary to create a custom analytical story based on a custom business object. We'll start with a short overview focusing on the different phases of an end to end custom analytics scenario implementation. We'll look at some different apps that are available in the SAP Marketing Cloud, such as the custom Csvs, custom analytical queries, and the View browser. Then I'll show you the creation process within the SAP Analytics Cloud, followed by an explanation of the data migration for both systems. Most custom stories for marketing cloud scenarios start at the CDS view generation and creating a custom CDS view by combining several data sources. The custom analytical query app then allows you to access the created data cubes. This allows us to define which fields and variable options we want to provide in our result data set. Using the View Browser app, we can identify data views and define applications for a business catalog assignment, with the goal to provide access to created query. You can organize the business catalogs according to your needs with an easy user role assignment. Next, we'll use the life connection to create models within SAP Analytics Cloud based on our data sources provided in the SAP Marketing cloud. Using the created models, we'll create a story dashboard accessing several data models within a story. This way we can provide an overview with insights, unimportant KPIs, and metrics. The custom CDS view app is used to get relevant data together. We create data sources to answer specific questions for our analytics scenarios. It's important to know the metadata, semantics, and cardinalities of the data sources you're going to use. We'll start by selecting a primary data source with the option of adding one or more secondary data sources, defining the holistic data pool available. Then, if necessary, we can use parameters to set additional variables on the data sources. We can use these parameters in the filters tab and this way request for faster results in the elements tab. The selection is done to specify which elements we want to include in the newly created data source. Here are the appropriate standard and custom fields based on the earlier selected data sources that can be added. Using elements properties will assign types to the fields available or create calculations defining a new element. The type assignment can be a semantic type for master data elements. Measures can also be specified via aggregation types. The filters tab gives us the option to define conditions to optimize the result set of your custom SEO, and implement a better data control. The log gives us a quality function to inspect the last check and publish actions of the custom CDs view. Warning and success messages will support the overall creation process. Finally, some next steps help the user in publishing and using the new defined CDS view. Now I'll show you how to create a custom CSS view for a custom analytical query. Search for the custom CSS view app. Make sure you have the Business Role Analytics specialist assigned to you. Then navigate to the app and open it. Click the create button to start the creation of a new custom CSS view. Enter a reference Apple label for the view. The YY1 refers to custom created views. Now use the dropdown select scenario and select the Analytical Cube to be able to view the CSS view in queries. Click the create button to activate the creation process. Next, we'll see a step by step configuration of the CDS view, guiding us through mandatory and optional specification options. The first step in our creation process is to select a primary data source in the search field. We can narrow down on our loyalty custom business object. In general, we can use the parameters tab to define and maintain parameters on the primary data sources. This is optional. In the elements tab, we are free to include the elements which should be exposed by using the final view for attribute selection. By default, only the primary key is selected. To select additional elements, click the add button and select elements. Now from the Brand Loyalty node, we can expand and select the node attributes available. We'll select the interaction contact ID, the loyalty stage, and the loyalty score as we want to have these fields available later on. Now we can check and define the aggregation types for the fields we previously selected. Aggregations can only be defined for numeric field types. For the loyalty score will activate the sum aggregation type. Note that the aggregations depend on cardinalities. If the cardinality isn't correct, the aggregates won't be created. The filters tab is helpful when we want to define filters on our data sources. To optimize the result set. This is optional. Select it when we want to set the filter logic either on a form base or expression based editor, select the check button. The system will tell you if there are issues which need your attention. Check the log tab before finalizing the KDS view creation. The log shows you details like warnings and success messages derived by the check function. We just used. Log details are also available for the publish function. We'll trigger it when we are done. If there are no issues, use the next steps button to get additional information about the seeds. You creation the documentation or make use of shortcuts to other system applications. Click the preview
