Creating Material Quotes in SAP Ariba Sourcing

SAP Ariba allows you to create sourcing events for your materials in a simple, straightforward way. This video will guide you through the steps necessary for creating a request for quotation for a bicycle frame starting on the Product Sourcing dashboard. As a material owner, you can search for the material name or ID, or simply apply the default pre -created filters on the dashboard. To initiate the material quote, you can either select the material and then choose Material Quote. Or, another way is to access the item 360 View for the material and scroll all the way to the Pricing/ Split section and select Material Quote. From this view, you are also able to see which suppliers are already associated to the material and will automatically be added to the events participants list. The Ad Hoc type indicates these suppliers have participated in events for the material in the past. Let us now create the event. You first have to choose an event creation method. Please keep in mind the preferred method is currently guided sourcing. We keep the plant assignment and external system selection as is. On the event creation page, we add any relevant header fields, such as Regions and Commodity, and select a template. The event type is a request for proposal. Template administrators usually have templates configured especially for direct material sourcing purposes. These templates contain specific material terms, like Plant or Material Code. They would also have the integration with the ERP set up in the follow-on document selected. The event is pre-populated with information coming from the template, but we also notice the Ad Hoc suppliers linked to the material have been added to the list. The bicycle frame is the item we initiated the event for. Based on the site and template configuration, we notice terms such as Plant, Material Group, and Material Code are available. Also, the last contracted price has been added as the initial price value to the event. During event creation, project owners can add other materials using the Material Master search. You enter the material name, add the plant corresponding to it, and then add it to the event. We are now ready to publish the request for quotation. This concludes our tutorial on creating material quotes.
