Creating Requests for Information in SAP Ariba Sourcing

Today's video will review requests for information within SAP Ariba sourcing. A Request for Information, or RFI, is an event that is used to collect information from suppliers. RFIs are non-competitive and participant responses are never shown to other participants. RFIs can be opened for an extended period of time, allowing suppliers to log in and respond at their convenience. RFIs are generally used to collect information from suppliers to narrow supply bases for future auctions, learn supplier capabilities, qualify suppliers prior to bidding, or allow suppliers to market their qualifications and strategies. When it comes to creating an RFI in SAP Ariba, users will create a sourcing project and then choose the event type RFI. By default, there is one standard RFI template to choose from after the project owner completes the project header fields. The standard template is equipped with the appropriate settings for collecting information and does not require major customizations since the intent of this event forum is mostly question and answer. When a project owner chooses an event template, a sourcing project is created from that template with pre-populated settings. Each event will require the project owner to complete the rules, participants, team, and mainly the content steps. Participants are added at  the Supplier tab and any internal teammates helping with  the project are found on the Team tab. On the Rules tab, we see Timing Rules to specify how long the RFI is open, and we can see visible rules in the Bidding Rules and Market Feedback sections that can be changed.  Not all rules are  visible are RFIs are intended to be Q&A. In the Content tab, this is where most of the questions are built that participants will see. Sections, Questions, Requirements, Tables, and other content items can be added to the RFI for suppliers to read  or respond to. After all of the content is added, the event can be published, which opens the event for supplier participation. RFIs are not traditionally awarded, so once responses come in, the project owner will want to evaluate responses, the event will close, and then they will take the necessary steps.
