Defining Advisor Functionality in SAP Fieldglass

Organizations use advisor functionality in SAP Fieldglass to make informed decisions that impact both external workforce and services procurement. Advisors provide a link between report data and the context it relates to. They allow users and approvers visibility into current and historical report data, influencing day-to-day business decisions and actions that apply to active transactions in SAP Fieldglass. Advisors are set up via the SAP Fieldglass admin menu, meaning that only users with the appropriate Advisor Manage Permission enabled can create or edit an advisor. Mavis, the hiring manager of network engineering at WorkingNet, would like to see at-hand data for the total working hours an active worker has completed on assignment, compared with hours budgeted on the work order. Having this detail would allow her to forecast how many hours remain and monitor costs for the assignment. She requests the help of Anya, the SAP Fieldglass Administrator for WorkingNet, to find an appropriate solution. Anya suggests enabling the new Timesheet Hours Comparison Advisor, which would display the total estimated hours on the confirmed work order against actual hours worked for the past six months. Mavis could view this advisor from the work order or worker record without running a report from the analytics module each time. Here's how Anya would configure the advisor in SAP Fieldglass. Anya navigates to the Configuration section of the Admin menu and selects Advisor. The Advisor Admin object is used to create either text or data-driven advisors in the form of reports, charts and linear gauges. Here Anya can see over 50 predefined advisors available of varying types based on different modules or she could choose to create her own. Anya searches for the timesheet hours comparison advisor using the name field and locates the timesheet hours comparison advisor as a chart. Anya selects the name hyperlink to find out more information. Anya verifies that there is an existing report based on work order data linked to this advisor. Whilst she cannot edit a predefined advisor, Anya could review the report itself by selecting the hyperlink. However, at this time, she is happy to proceed in configuring where and to whom the advisor should display in the application. Note that visibility to an advisor report is determined by the report folder. Anya does not change the default association of the advisor to all user roles and sites. However, if control was required on what types of data should be displayed and at what point in the workflow process for an approver versus a hiring manager, it could be configured based on user role and geographical restrictions if desired. Next, Anya needs to specify where the advisor should be displayed. She'll do that by navigating to the advisor placement admin object. The advisor placement list displays the pages where advisors are enabled in the application, the section of the page, and the number of advisors associated to the specific page. This is represented as a link count that when selected will show the associated advisors. Anya searches work order to narrow down the available pages and locates view work order and details tab section as the preferred placement for the timesheet hours comparison advisor. By selecting the number of advisors hyperlink for the view work order details tab the advisor list displays. Since there are no existing advisors associated to the Work Order Details tab, Anya will now select Add, and choose from the list of advisors. She searches Hours, selects the Timesheet Hours Comparison checkbox, and selects Add. She can now preview the associated advisor by selecting the preview link. As a final step, Anya confirms that in the advisor admin object, the displays on tile within the association tree for the timesheet hours comparison advisor is now populated with the desired placement. With the setup complete, Anya asks Mavis to log in and verify the advisor meets her needs. Mavis selects a recent work order and navigates to the details tab. The advisor is located in a separate shaded section of the work order details page. Mavis can select the advisor heading to display its details. Mavis is extremely pleased to learn that the advisor itself automatically applies a filter to the report data based on the document it is placed on, so she will only see information pertinent to the work order that the advisor is placed on at the time it is viewed by a user. Newly introduced in November 2023, additional report display options are now available, including Donut Charts, Numbers, Double Numbers, and a hybrid of Donut Charts and Numbers. When considering adoption of any additional report display options, you will need to prepare in the following ways. Create the report as a basis for the intended advisor. Create the desired advisor itself via the advisor admin object. Define where the advisor should be placed via the advisor placement admin object. Following the configuration of these items, please speak with your SAP Fieldglass representative to enable the desired report display. And that's how you can leverage advisor in SAP Fieldglass to harness the power of your data, creating efficiency in your workflow and business decisions.
