Demonstrating Agent-Assisted Coding with SAP AI Core

In this demonstration, I'll show you how to use AI Core Models in an enterprise supportive, secure way. I'll walk through the setup, step-by-step, in Visual Studio Code, look at the key fields you'll need, and how to use foundation models, or deploy your own from AI Launchpad. By the end, you'll be ready to connect Cline with AI Core and kick off your agent-assisted coding journey. I can use Cline with AI Core if I have an AI Core instance and want to leverage what I would call a secure deployment, because it uses custom deployments in the background. When my BTP account has AI Core provisioned, I receive service keys. When I open one, it looks like this. I blurred sections because there's sensitive data that could be reused. When I open the code window, the connection is configured, after I start Visual Studio Code with Cline, and install the Cline plugin from the marketplace. Then, I'll choose Bring Your Own Key. Next, I'll select and set up AI Core as the API provider and provide details like the Client ID and Client secret, the Core Base URL, and the Auth URL, and select Orchestration mode. I can use the models immediately or deploy my own models in the AI Launchpad, which offers a selection of models. Then, I can deploy my custom models and use them in Client. There's the Client ID and Client secret, and this is the Identification URL, and this is the API URL, which I add here. Client ID, Client secret, the Identification URL, and the Auth URL, and the default resource group are always default if not changed. When I start the launchpad and connect my AI Core instance, it automatically generates a default resource group. I can also manage it and create custom ones. With this, I can use AI Core with Cline and start my agent-assisted coding journey. In summary, I connected Cline to SAP AI Core, using Bring Your Own Key in Visual Studio Code. I entered the Client ID, Client secret, Core Base URL, and Auth URL and selected Orchestration mode. I also looked at AI Core Service keys, noted what's sensitive, and saw how the default resource group is created and how I can manage, or create my own. From here, I can start with ready-to-use models or deploy my own in AI Launchpad and use them directly in Cline.
