Discovering Updates in Operational Risk Management - PET 2026

Hello, everyone, and a warm welcome from my side. This is the product expert training on -demand video for environment, health, and safety focusing on operational risk management. Before we actually start some housekeeping, here you'll find the legal disclaimer. Please keep in mind that the information shared today belongs to SAP and can be changed at any time without further notice. My name is Claudia and I am part of the Cloud ERP Product Success Team. This overview here helps you to understand to which end-to-end process EHS belongs to. This is the agenda for today. First of all, we will have a brief introduction into the risk assessment process in general. and then I'll introduce the innovation set reminders for re -evaluation of risk assessments and job hazard analysis followed by the innovation follow-up on closed assessment and at the end I'll provide an outlook about what's on the roadmap for operational risk management. Before we jump into the innovations I'd like to give you a brief overview about the risk assessment process. In a risk assessment, potential hazards are identified, evaluated, and controls are implemented to minimize or eliminate risks to ensure safety and compliance with regulations. A risk assessment is actually a recurring task because hazards and control measures must be reviewed and updated in regular intervals. Workplace conditions, processes, and regulations may change over time, requiring continuous evaluation to ensure ongoing safety. And by periodically reassessing risks, potential new hazards can be identified and existing controls can be adjusted to maintain a safe working environment. so let's start with the first innovation set reminders for re -evaluation of risk assessments there were actually certain challenges and pain points such as that missing reminders for re -evaluation could lead to outdated risk assessments and now there is an automated reminder system that ensures timely re -evaluation of risk assessments with flexible scheduling options. So what is this innovation all about? It allows setting reminders for re-evaluation after approving a risk assessment and sends reminder emails before and on the due date for reassessment. so let's have a look into the system so therefore we open the location specific risk assessment manage risk assessments app and choose an example in the risk section there is a list of identified risks that are already assessed assessment done and definition of risk level as soon as i have closed the assessment i can click approved and a checkbox appears asking whether i am sure that I want to approve the risk assessment. If so, I can request a reminder for re-evaluation by mail. As the risk assessment has to be reviewed from time to time to check if something has changed, there are certain default reminder dates. In six months, in a year from now, in two years, or you can choose an individual date. This is the reminder mail that was sent out before the actual due date. and another reminder mail was sent out at the exact due date and by setting up the reminder date and automatic email notification it ensures that regular reviews of the risks assessments are not forgotten so we will continue now with the second innovation the follow-up on closed assessments and yeah again there were some challenges like tracking changes tracking changes in risk assessment without losing previous data or the pain point the inability to update closed risk assessments easily so now with this innovation this innovation provides a consistent record of approved safety situations, enhancing historical tracking and accountability. It also allows adjustments to risk assessments while preserving earlier findings, ensuring comprehensive documentation. So what is this innovation all about? It's an introduction of a follow-up button that allows users to reopen approved risks assessments and create a new version. This innovation also enhances tracking and documentation of assessment changes. So having said that, let's again have a look into the demo. So, this functionality enables users to generate a new iteration of an impacted risk assessment and facilitates the creation of multiple risk assessments, thereby documenting the history of safety scenarios over time. It allows users to systematically log and monitor approved safety situations consistently throughout the duration. It permits adjustments to risks assessments without overriding earlier findings and decisions, thereby ensuring that all changes and developments in assessments are clearly documented and accessible. After the follow-up assessment was created, you will notice the status of the follow-up risk assessment has changed. Not only has the status of the controls been affected, but also the status of the risk assessment and the individual risks has changed. In addition, the risk level has been reset and requires re-evaluation. I would like to conclude this video with an outlook of what's coming in the Release 2608 concerning operational risk management. As part of the overview page a card will be introduced that lists all risks assessments with follow-up dues within the next 60 days with the option to navigate directly to the risk assessment and perform the necessary updates.
