Experience and Web Content Management in SmartEdit - SAP Commerce Cloud

Now that we´ve learned how to manage product information, let´s have a look at website content management.  In SAP Commerce Cloud, this is called "SAP Experience Management".  SmartEdit is a modern customer experience management framework that empowers business users with both content  management and personalization capabilities.  In this video, we'll have a look at the SmartEdit Content Management and Personalization capabilities. SmartEdit is our innovative tool that makes the creation and management of sites intuitive and user-friendly. Web content managers can perform WYSIWYG tasks with capabilities such as drag and drop and select from a variety of available  components. They can also preview their website for a specific context - such as a specific date or user - as they work on it. From the SmartEdit landing page, I can select which site I'd like to work on.  From here, I can either navigate to my homepage or view my site pages.  I also have an option for Navigation management. In SmartEdit, I can of course also edit all my webpages and their components. I'll choose the Homepage of my Electronics staged catalog. The next screen takes me to my storefront.  This view is the same a customer would see now.  Using the preview mode, I can preview my page with a set of parameters such as language, time, and product catalog.  And with the device selector I can choose for which device.  The storefront preview adjusts accordingly. To edit my page, I can use two Edit modes. With "Basic Edit", a basic layer of tooling is applied and I can edit my storefront in a natural and seamless experience.  Some components are locked since they are shared across pages.  For example, the navigation bar and the search box are shared.  Others I can edit directly by drag and drop, deleting them or editing their properties. But how do I edit the locked components shared on multiple pages?  This is done in "Advanced Edit". In most use cases, only a few users have permissions to "advanced edit" since any changes made on locked  components will affect other pages as well.  As an admin, I can do anything but even so, I will get a warning before making my changes. Here, for example, I'll change the minimum number of characters required for my search before suggestions are made.  Let's change that to four characters. When I now sync my component... And look at a refreshed storefront, you'll see that suggestions only appear after four characters. There are many other capabilities in SmartEdit, like adding restrictions. For example, if I want a banner to be visible around Christmas only,  I'll add a time restriction and set the banner to be visible as of December 11.  The Preview selector lets me check my restrictions.  Let's see if the banner will be visible on December 4.  As you can see, it won't be.  And, how about December 18?...  Here it is! If I change my mind, I can remove the restriction and the banner will be visible at all times.  There are many more restriction types that can be added; this was just a quick example.   Earlier we mentioned Navigation management, let's have a quick look at this.  I'll select it for the Electronics staged catalog. I now see all the "nodes" used in my website.  This not only includes Categories on the navigation bar but also other navigation areas such as the "My Account" and footer area. Now let's say I want to change the order of the categories on my navigation bar to put webcams ahead of camcorders.  All I would have to do is go here and move the order by drag and drop.  I could also perform a range of other actions, like edit the page, add child or sibling pages or delete the page.  Once I synchronize my catalog, the change will appear on the storefront.  If I now refresh...  there, it is! Let's turn our attention to Personalization.  Imagine you want to customize your storefront for a certain segment of your customers, say people interested in camera lenses.  To do this, I select my target group and then simply customize components as I wish.  Let's also customize one of the components below. I'll select this one and look for lenses in my library of existing components.  "Lenses Banner" looks like a good fit.  There we go, I can preview my changes as I work in SmartEdit.  If I now sync my staged catalog to online...  and log on to the storefront as a customer belonging to the target group.  Voila! My customers see products that are relevant to them. Beyond what you have seen here, you can also set up what are called commerce customizations.  For example, you could configure a tailored promotion for a particular target group or even trigger  specific search profiles depending on the interests of your customers. SmartEdit also provides you with a Versioning function.  This function allows you to create a version of a page.  You can also roll back to a page version and continue to edit the content. Ok this wraps it up for SmartEdit and Personalization.  There's a lot more that you can do with this tool.
