Exploring and Implementing Groups in SAP Customer Data Cloud

Welcome to this video on Exploring  and Implementing Groups for  SAP Customer Data Cloud.  In this video, you’ll learn about the Groups terminology and its features.  You’ll get an overview of everyday use cases.  Then, you’ll see a demo on how to work with  groups in SAP Customer Data Cloud.   Four key terms are explained.  The first term is “Model”:  The group model consists of a title,  the maximum number of members per group,  and the group schema, which represents  the defined attributes of a group.  Next is the “Group” term:  The group is based on a group model and is  used to get one or multiple profiles assigned  that are somehow related to each other.  The “Relationship” is about the relation between  a profile and a group.  On the relationship level, it’s possible to store  additional information in the relationship  schema, which also can be defined.  Using an “Invitation”, it’s possible to invite an  additional person to a group, assigned to  the associated group after confirmation.  Using Groups, marketing activities  can be better targeted.  It’s an opportunity to increase the engagement with customers.   Let’s look at the main group’s features:  It’s possible to create and manage up  to 5 group models per site with their  definable schemas.  Based on the group models, new groups  can be created using the SAP Customer Data Cloud APIs.   Those groups represent conglomerations of profiles.  Once a group is created, a profile can be assigned to one or multiple groups.  It’s also possible to set a maximum number of  profiles per group.  Using the invitation process, users can be  invited to join a group.  Groups can be easily integrated using  the Identity Sync Platform, REST API,  or the WebSDK.  Everyday use cases for groups within SAP Customer Data Cloud are all scenarios  where profiles are related  This could be Family Accounts,  Company Accounts, Party Accounts,  or all other types of Associations.     Now, we’ll demonstrate how to create a new  group model, create a new group,  and  assign a profile to the group.  We use the family accounts scenario  for this demo.  Before defining a group, we need to define  the Group and Relationship schemas  for the model.   For this, we select “Group Model Management”  in the menu at the bottom left.   You are brought to the configuration page after  pressing “Create Model” in the top right.  Here, we can define the group model with an ID  and the schema.  we use “family” for the group’s name.  Next, we configure the group schema  with the two fields:  Family Name and Loyalty Number  click “Add new Field” and enter “familyName” as the field name.  choose "String" as field type.  Select “Client Modify” for write access.  Then,  click “Create”.    To add the second field, click  “Add new field” and name the field “loyalityID”  Choose "String" as field type and select  “client modify” for write access.  Click "Create” in the top right.  Next, we want to define  the relationship schema.  We select the “relationship schema” tab  and click “add new field".   Here, we want to define whether the profiles  related to the group are a family parent.  Let’s call the field name “isParent".  Choose “boolean” as type and select  “client modify” for write access.  Click "Create" to save this schema.  To complete the model creation, click the blue  “create” button on the bottom right.  The model is created.  Next, we want to create a new group based on  the newly created model.  Click on “Groups” in the menu on the top left.  Open the dropdown for “Available Models” and open the “family” model.  Now click the blue “Create Group” button  on the top right.  Start with entering the group ID.  Then, enter the loyalityID and the family name.  When all fields are filled, click the blue “create”  button on the bottom right.  The group was created successfully.  Next, we add a member to the group. We open the group and select  the “Members Data” tab.  To see a list of all profiles for this site, click “Add Member” on the top right.  Select one of the profiles.  Now click on “Next step”.  In this step, we can set the "isParent" Flag.  In the last step the permissions can be defined.  Choose “Group Read”, “Group Write”, “Relationship Read”.  Now click the blue "Save" button  on the top right.  The profile was added to the group successfully.  This concludes our video on Groups  for SAP Customer Data Cloud.  Thank you for watching.
