Exploring Autonomous Commerce with SAP Commerce Cloud and Agentic AI – PET 2026

Hi. Thank you for joining this Product Expert training. Today, we are going to explore autonomous commerce with SAP Commerce Cloud and Agentic AI. All of that within the Lead to Cash process integrated with SAP Business Suite. As we are going to look at different elements from the roadmap you'll find here the standard SAP disclaimer. On my side I am François Genon-Catalot from the SAP CX product success team. I'm based out of Hamburg in Germany. Today we are going to have a look first at autonomous commerce then at our roadmap for AI and we'll have a short demo of what does it mean and what our vision for autonomous commerce is autonomous commerce is part of the lead to cash process going from marketing and lead generation to sales management order fulfillment invoice and after customer service once the customer has purchased it is spanning a lot of different SAP products and we are going to cover part of it in in this session so let's have a look at autonomous commerce the vision for SAP Commerce Cloud is staying the same we want to enable every enterprise to continuously deliver connected trusted and autonomous commerce experiences that drive profitable growth and optimal customer outcomes for all business models it means that what we want to deliver covers at the same time B2B and B2C business models or direct -to-consumer. We want to make sure that our customers can leverage all of that to drive value and to create business benefits for them. With the autonomous enterprise, we want to deliver processes which are intent-driven and outcome-oriented. These processes are going to be cross-application and we have an autonomous execution always with humans in the loop. This is a very important and critical point of the autonomous enterprise. To run the autonomous enterprise, we need relevant data, domain expertise across multiple processes, experience with these industries and a focus on outcomes. This is what SAP wants to deliver with the autonomous enterprise. If we focus on customer experience what does it mean for autonomous customer experience we are going to have different domains we see here going from the autonomous marketing and engagement autonomous commerce which is the focus for today's session autonomous sales and revenue or autonomous service each of these domain is going to have an assistant for every key role in the enterprise the ai assistants are going to orchestrate several agents with different skills and intelligence across the end-to-end process. All of these AI assistants are leveraging agentic applications and data with SAP Business Data Cloud. This is run and developed and built on the SAP Business AI platform so that we benefit from the SAP governance of all of these AI processes. For autonomous commerce, let's have a deep dive particularly on this field. We We are planning different commerce AI assistants, you see them listed here on the slide. We are going to have the Planner Assistant, the Shopping Assistant, the Merchant Assistant, the Commerce Admin Assistant, and the Developer Assistant. Each of these assistants is going to orchestrate some commerce specialized agents. A few examples include the Product Evaluation Agent, the Product Content Scoring Agent, and so on. We are developing a lot of these agents which are going to be delivered in the coming weeks and months. Let's focus now on autonomous commerce and on its flywheels. The market is currently focusing on consumer-side agents. This is where customers express their intent using large language models and AI search. AI search is sending traffic to the merchants, and then there are very important processes which are happening on the merchant side. It starts with experienced agents to convert intent into orders. It continues to deliver the promise with execution agents to make sure these orders are fulfilled and then we have optimization agents that improve outcomes continuously all of that is going to improve trust loyalty and profitability for these merchants this will contribute to the optimal performance to decide future demand and to make sure that the demand agents and the llms are going to rank as best as possible the products of the merchant with the autonomous enterprise and in our case with autonomous commerce we want to create value for the organizations we want to make sure that ai use cases are leveraged across cx core domains to create the value and to have assistants which are implemented and which are going to generate return on investment for the customers who will implement them for instance what you see here on slide, we have the sales assistant where we want to increase the revenue rate and the speed in the lead response time, for instance, tracked in terms of hours. And we'll have different assistants like the merchandising assistant to reduce the time spent on manual data consolidation and to improve the quality and an increase in conversion from consideration to cut. For each of the assistants that we are working on you'll see here different kpis this is validated from a study with bcg that we have done recently autonomous commerce is going to be relevant for the full sap commerce cloud portfolio it includes b2b self-service portal b2b mid-market with the end -to-end commerce solution with the brand new cloud erp edition i recommend you to have a look at the sessions and the videos covering this new edition and as well for large enterprise for end-to-end commerce and for composable commerce let's have a look now at the roadmap for ai first a very important element we want to make sure that we built in control and governance we want to keep full oversight of your data and the connections and to make sure that the strongest authentication and security processes are implemented for everything that we are going to implement regarding artificial intelligence agentic ai and ai assistance it will help you to participate in new ai channels in minutes to monitor channel business performance and to close the loop with catalog and content optimization one of the initiatives we are working on is a unified catalog feed for ai -powered channels and assistance we want to make sure that you can connect SAP Commerce Cloud and Opted-in customer catalogs, obviously leveraging Opted-in user preference and behavior, and connecting universal commerce protocols and agentic commerce protocols data pipelines with a unified commerce feed. It's going to be integrated with the open payment framework with partners like the ones listed here, Stripe, ADN, WorldPay, Airwallex, or PayPal. We want to make sure that you're going to connect SAP Commerce Cloud with multiple AI channels, respecting user preferences and behaviors, opted-in customers who have the control to know what's going to be shared, and intent-based discovery and purchases to make sure that they are discovered across different large language models, like the ones listed on the right side, including mis-trial, for instance. Another initiative we are working on is to deliver a multimodal AI commerce assistant for shopping and buying. It will enable you to connect SAP Commerce Cloud using an MCP server with Chat AI, Voice AI, so using hands-free product search, or Visual AI, where you can find products via camera feed, recommend similar products using the photos of products that you currently own, or get detailed product information based on the photos that you're going to take. We are also developing an AI Developer Assistant. This is going to enable the developers to move from the traditional approach where they have to learn the framework first, to understand how to use it to implement their specific use case, to write code manually, conduct iterative testing and debugging, to come to an AI-assisted approach where they can describe what they want to achieve using natural language. AI will handle a lot of the implementation aspects, the framework mechanics, the patterns, the boilerplate, and it will allow the developer to focus on UX and business requirements and not only on implementation details. It will make development a lot faster. On the right side, you see the architecture where there will be developer AI tools, including Joule in commerce. Using MCP protocol and the MCP ecosystem highlighted on the right side, it will connect these tools with the SAP Commerce instance to give the developers these AI assistant tools. We are investing as well the next frontier with a new foundational model, SAP OPT1. This is a relational pre -trained transformer model. It's built for relational data. It's ideal for forecasting, classification, and pattern detection. It's going to supercharge AI assistants and merchants. It's going to help them predict the best offers or promotions, optimize sourcing locations and strategies. We plan to use it for autonomous operations and for the commerce content optimization agent. to generate product attributes values using LLMs and a PT-WAN. It's going to relate enterprise data for predictive commerce, leveraging SAP's extensive data across domains. Our customers also want an extensible AI ecosystem around SAP Commerce. In that case, SAP becomes the platform, not just the application. We are leveraging MCP Server as a platform to build custom AI workflows, to connect SAP Commerce Cloud and to enable our customers to create customer AI workflows for chatbots, for discovery flows, for transaction flows, and for post-sales flows. We are going to have a look at a demo in a second which is going to illustrate what will be feasible with these custom AI workflows. Let's jump now in a system demo to have a look at SAP Commerce Cloud with these custom AI workflows. For this demo, we are in the shoes of Emily. Emily is a B2B buyer who has to purchase some new furniture for her company which is opening an office in Shanghai. She wants to reuse a previous order that her company did for the office in Beijing. Her provider is PrimeWorks and she is going to log in and to connect on the B2B website. So we are here on the PrimeWorks B2B website and we see on the top right that we are already logged in as Emily Bennett. So we can have a look directly at the homepage to shop by category to have a look at the bestsellers and we can open the shopping agent which is appearing on the bottom right. So Emily wants to make sure she orders new furniture for the Shanghai office but she wants to duplicate the setup from the paging order. She's getting directly the details of the previous order for paging. She can confirm if she wants to have the same setup. It's slightly different so she is explaining what her requirements are and the order is updated. She is confirming the updates which are provided by the assistant. At that point, the products are added to the cart and she can go directly to check the amount of the order. The products fit, but there is an issue for the price. The price is over her budget. She has a budget cap of $215,000. It's what we see here on the comment. And she is asking for a 12% discount to make sure that she can meet these targets. On the quote details, she can see that a PrimeWorks contact has been assigned to this quote and is going to treat her demand. Let's have a look now at Mark and the message that he's going to get on his phone. Mark gets a notification on his phone that a new quote has been generated from Flux Digital, which is pending review. He can already see that the risk is low in terms of the request from the customer. Let's have a look at what is being asked. First, the quote details. You can see that Emily from Flux Digital has sent a comment. The AI assistant is already recommending some actions and is giving him some insights. The customer is requesting a 12% discount. It is a silver tier account. And he gets this summary directly generated from the AI assistant. They want to be below their budget of $215k to make sure that they can accommodate the new furniture for their Shanghai office expansion. There is an explanation of the discount strategy which is recommended by the AI assistant based on the standard 10% eligibility and how to grant the 12% discount that the customer wants. There is a recommendation to waive the standard 3% delivery and installation fee and a check in terms of profitability. The projected deal margin is 18%, so over the safety threshold of 16%. The final recommendation from the AI assistant is to approve the 12% discount. So Mark can decide now to approve and to validate the proposition from the AI assistant. He could obviously change as well these amounts if it doesn't fit what he wants. Once Emily logs in, she has a look at the quote details, discovers that the discount of 12% has been applied, and as she is very satisfied of having it below $215K, which is her budget, she approves the quote and the order. She has a look here at the order details. She is very satisfied, and it's moving to the next steps to the order fulfillment. This is the end of our demo, and we are going to come back now to the PowerPoint. Through this demo and the presentation of autonomous commerce and the AI roadmap, we had a look at the 2026 product investments. This spans operational excellence, composability with the integration with MCP servers, intelligence with the expanded shopping agent, and industry-tailored capabilities to make sure our merchants can boost SEO and new generative engine optimization with our composable storefront.
