Exploring Global Data Residency in SAP Customer Data Cloud

In this video, we’ll take you through Global Data Residency in SAP Customer Data Cloud. We will review data center locations, Global Access, security measures, social compliance, and system features.  Let's get started.  SAP Customer Data Cloud is committed to safeguarding the privacy of our customers’  personally identifiable information according to local and international privacy laws.  To comply with these laws, SAP Customer Data Cloud has 5 data center locations Australia, Europe, United States, Russia, and China When choosing the data center for your project, take into consideration any legal requirements.  For security reasons, unlike other data centers, the Russian and Chinese data centers will  require sites to be configured only under dedicated console accounts.  If you are unsure of which data center to use, please reach out to your consultant. When you make requests to SAP Customer Data Cloud refer to your data center with the values shown on the screen.  For example, a United States data center will use “US1”.  See the example request URL.  Also note the URL for China.  Global access allows you to create a site or site group, that belongs to more than one datacenter. So you can provide a consistent user experience, regardless of users' physical location.  Previously, users had to register separately to each of the regional sites when moving around the world.  With global access, users can log in to your localized sites with their existing account.  User data is stored on the data center they used to create their account so you can comply with various data residency regulations.  Also, with Global Access the console is consolidated. All of our data centers follow the same security measures and social network identity compliance rules.  Starting with the security measures, SAP Customer Data Cloud is safe harbor certified ISO27001 compliant, regularly scanned by PCI-approved scanning vendors owns and operates our own hardware, and provides real time data backup.  We also practice compliance with social providers.  For example, we support automatic account deletion.  If a user revokes permission or deletes nonpublic profile data, SAP Customer Data Cloud will also delete it from our database.  We also support automatic account updates.  If a user logs into your site using Facebook then updates their Facebook profile at a later  time, this data will also be updated to SAP Customer Data Cloud.  Having a dynamic schema allows you to store  data without structure constraints  and allows you to process massive amounts of data officially.  SAP Customer Data Cloud also indexes your data.  So you can search your data with any combination of user attributes. We support querying the database in a variety of ways including an SQL-like interface. It provides a flexible way to retrieve user segments at scale.  We also allow data imports.  You can import legacy data from an existing database.  And we also allow data export. SAP Customer Data Cloud can deliver regular extractions of new and updated data per your requirements. This ends the Global Data Residency video.  Thank you for watching.
