Exploring the Test Automation Tool in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition 3-System Landscape

Are you considering transitioning from SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition 2-System Landscape to 3-System Landscape? Then let's talk about the Test Automation Tool. The Test Automation Tool is embedded in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, to support customers testing and validating their business processes after each release upgrade. There are predelivered test process automation scripts based on the business processes active in your system and tools to easily customize standard test automates. SAP will also run Post Upgrade Tests on a customer's behalf to reduce the testing workload. The tool is also integrated with the testing apps within SAP Cloud ALM. When you request a parallel line for SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, 3-System Landscape, you receive an additional customizing tenant (client 120) in the development system, and an additional test tenant (client 120) in the test system. Typically, you conduct your testing activities in the main line test tenant (client 100). However, because you recieve this additional test tenant in the parallel line, you now have an additional test environment that can be used for a variety of different activities. In the parallel line, if you add a new country, extend the organizational structure, activate additional business processes, or make changes to the product-specific configuration values, you would transport these changes to the customizing tenant (client 120) in the parallel line, then to the test tenant (client 120), which is also in the parallel line. This allows you to test the changes you've made in an environment completely separate from your main line. You could also use the parallel line test tenant to practice migrating data, as an additional test environment, or as a training environment to onboard users. Finally, you could build global templates that are then used in the main line. The Test Automation Tool in SAP S/4HANA Cloud, delivers the biggest value when used in a 3-System Landscape. There are faster and safer release cycles because you can run the standard automated test processes that already align with your SAP Best Practice business processes in the test system as soon as it's upgraded, which is weeks before the upgrade will be applied to the production system. Test variants and test data containers let you parameterize tests with your company codes, plants, customers, materials, and other organizational data. These can be downloaded and uploaded to be used across systems. For example, if you are using your parallel line test tenant. The automated end-to-end tests can be run on demand or scheduled to get much faster feedback as compared to manual testing. Detailed execution logs and screenshots provide traceable proof of testing for release approvals, audits, and compliance. Risk is isolated with the 3-System landscape setup, where production remains stable when you run automated tests in the Test system. Development changes are validated in the test system long before they reach production. You can reuse the same automated tests across multiple company codes and countries using variants to ensure consistent quality in standardized processes. You can simultaneously download and upload test process automates to use the same processes from your main line test system (client 100) in your parallel line test system (client 120). If a customer chooses to provide consent for SAP to run Post-Upgrade Tests on behalf of the customer, the customer's testing effort is even further reduced as a significant chunk of business processes will be automatically triggered to run testing immediately following the release upgrade being applied to the test system.
