Getting Started with SAP Integrated Product Development Using the BTP Booster – PET 2026

Hello and welcome to our Cloud ERP Product Expert Training H1 2026. My name is Annette Garcia -Lorenzo and in this video I will walk you through the onboarding process for SAP Integrated Product Development using the SAP BTP Booster. The booster automates the configuration of the required applications, services and entitlements. In this way, it simplifies the setup of a fully functional IPD tenant. As always, the information in this training is proprietary to SAP. SAP Integrated Product Development supports the idea-to-market business process, a generic business process that covers all the processes associated with managing the lifecycle of products and services. In this video, we will first get a short introduction to SAP BTP boosters. Then we will look at the booster options for SAP integrated product development, and we will see how you can get started using the BTP booster. In the demo, I will walk you through the full process. What are BTP boosters? Boosters automate the cockpit tasks of creating a subaccount, service instance, and the service tee to access the services for productive users with global accounts. They can really save you time when onboarding to SAP IPD. You can access the SAP BTP booster directly from your desired global account in the SAP BTP cockpit. Also, the booster provides additional information resources for further background information. Experience shows that the setup using the booster only takes a few minutes as compared to 15 to 20 minutes without the booster. So let's look at SAP boosters in general. The manual step-by-step setup of the relevant cockpit tasks, so the creation of a subaccount, a service instance, and the service key in the productive environment, can take a lot of time and be cumbersome. Using a booster reduces this time to only a few minutes by automating those tasks. Boosters can help you automate the service configuration, the entitlement assignment, the subscription creation, and also the basic subaccount setup. What are the prerequisites for using a booster? You need a global account on SAP Business Technology Platform and the entitlements to the service in order to access the boosters. Also, you need to use the booster in your productive environment. For more detailed information, please refer to the links on this slide. What are the booster options for SAP Integrated Product Development? For SAP IPD, you can use the following two booster options. You can either use a booster for the stand-up onboarding of SAP IPD or for the onboarding of the design to manufacturing scenario where you use an integration of SAP IPD with SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition. Please note that for this scenario, the integration requires that you make certain settings in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition. For example, you must enable the scope item 6U3. For more information, please refer to the product help. So let's look at the process of getting started using the BTP booster. You start the process in your SAP BTP global account. Go to the booster section and search for IPD. The Get Started with SAP Integrated Product Development booster prepares your subaccount to work with SAP IPD applications. To run this booster, you need global administrator rights, and you need the appropriate plans and quotas assigned to your account. You can access information on the included components and additional resources via the tabs on top. Choose Start to initiate the setup. The system carries out a prerequisites check, checking the authorizations, the custom identity provider, and the entitlements. Once the checks have been carried out successfully, choose Next. In this step, you choose if you want to create a new subaccount or select an existing subaccount. Select one option and choose Next. Now you configure your Cloud Foundry subaccount and space. Modify the entitlements depending on your business needs. Then input a speaking name and the provider, as well as the other details, like your region, the subdomain, the organizational name and the space name. Choose Next and enter the details of all additional users who will work on your development project and assign them to the relevant roles. roles. The booster will use the Platform Identity Provider to assign cockpit platform roles like Subaccount Administrator. Also, the Application Identity Provider displays all the custom IIS tenants that are associated with the selected subaccount. This tenant will be used by the application users who have the respected application roles assigned. Choose Next. On the Review screen, review your selections and inputs. Then choose Finish. The system automatically carries out the subsequent steps like creating a subaccount, establishing the trust, enabling Cloud Foundry and so on. You can watch the progress of the individual task in this screen.
