Introducing Integration Assessment Capability of SAP Integration Suite

Today I want to show you how we can use the Integration Assessment Tool to define, document and govern your integration strategy. Now we are at the landing page of the Integration Assessment Tool and on the left side you can see the navigation bar containing four sections. Let's start with the settings. The settings are usually used by the enterprise architect to review and enhance the ISA-M configuration as well as the questionnaires. Let's have a look at the integration domains. Note that all content from the ISA methodology comes pre-delivered in the tool, so for example the domain cloud2cloud is delivered and maintained by SAP. There is also the option to create your own custom domains if required. This applies for all ISA-M related objects, so also the integration styles, use case patterns, areas, key characteristics and deployment models are pre -delivered and can be adjusted. We also have the option to define our own questionnaires. There are also questionnaires available which are used to capture the requirements during the request process. We have one questionnaire pre -delivered for the business solution request and also two interface request questionnaires pre-delivered for the process and data integration style. You also have the option to create your own custom questionnaires. Each questionnaire can contain multiple sections and each section then can contain multiple questions which can also be linked directly to a key characteristic of the integration solution advisory methodology. In the end you have a fully flexible model which you can adjust to the requirements of your company. In the configure section we can maintain the application and integration technologies of our landscape. Note that the applications you can add are vendor agnostic, we can add SAP application profiles as well as non-SAP ones. The same goes for the integration technologies. Also here we have pre-delivered content from SAP where all the key characteristics of these technologies are maintained, but you also have the option to add non-SAP technology profiles. Let's also have a look at the analyze section. Here we can maintain the integration policies. We have predefined policies which are maintained by SAP, but you also have the option to create your own policies or edit the existing policies. That's it for the configuration let's jump to the requests now we are in the tool in the request section and let's walk through an integration assessment process that is performed in case there is a new integration scenario at your organization for this purpose the business domain expert will create a business solution request for specifying the integration requirements from a business point of view let's press the tile business solution request and they create to create a new solution request in our case it would be a sales order confirmation replication scenario. A new business solution request is created in the status draft. Let's go through the questionnaire which you can also configure in the settings. Which data should be exchanged? It will be sales order confirmations. The business process is the lead to cash process. The planned go -live date is the 1st of December and the business criticality is medium. Let's say next. Now we can create the interface request and specify which source and target application should be connected we press the create button the name is sales order confirmations the source system is our cloud for customer system which is running in the public cloud and our target application is the S/4HANA on-premise system the style is process integration let's say create to create a new interface request now we can add attachments we can add a new URL if needed. We just skip that for now. Press done. Submit the questionnaire. And now the status is new and we can jump into the role of the integration developer to answer the interface request. For this we jump back to the request section. Go to the interface request and open the one we just created. Note that also this questionnaire can be adjusted. The status is requirement analysis and we have to go through our questions. The use case pattern is A2A integration. In the transformation section we need a simple transformation. We want to apply predefined content and we are not in the B2B context so we say no here. The integration content we can also choose which is that we actually jump into the business accelerator hub and search for predefined integration content. We just press the create button, choose our interface can search for sales order and we have here the sales order confirmation scenario and jump directly to our predefined integration content that we have and as you can also see although the name is a business suite it's also compatible with S/4HANA let's jump back into our application select a scenario say import and now we have linked that there is predefined integration content available and the developer later knows that he can just use it for implementation next we have our connectivity section we want to use a technology connector we have to convert the protocol and we are not in a trading partner context so we can say no press next for the monitoring yes we want the business user to monitor it and we also want to forward technical errors we say done now we have specified all requirements and can go to the technology proposal now we are in the technology selection step based on the requirements which we entered in the questionnaire we can see which integration technologies are best suited to fulfill our requirements in our use case a combination of two technologies the sub application interface framework as well as the sub integration suite cloud integration capability can be used to fully cover all requirements of our interface further below we can also see how this result is being calculated. So for the key characteristic groups, transformations, connectivity, and integration use case, we can use our cloud integration tool, while the application interface framework is suitable to enable monitoring for business users and forward the error handling. If you click on the tile, you also get more information about evaluation. So for example, the AIF does not cover predefined integration content, while data transformation is supported. And if we jump to the cloud integration capability, there we have both requirements fully covered. Based on this recommendation, the integration developer now knows what capabilities should be used for what use cases. In the last step, we now can select our technologies. Here we have an overview of the policies that are also defined. and we can see two policies rules so we should use sub-application interface framework in case we want the business user to monitor interfaces and to do the error handling when S/4HANA is used and also cloud integration whenever there is pre-packaged content available. We can also check the other policies but in our use case they are not relevant. So we would select then the AIF instance and also the cloud integration technology instance press select and now we selected our technologies and can submit a questionnaire and this is the end of the video thanks for watching
