Introducing Radio Frequency Framework for SAP S/4HANA Cloud Supply Chain

Hi everyone and welcome to microlearnings. During this microlearning, we will see an introduction to radio frequency framework, which is provided by SAP and have a comprehensive overview of the capabilities. My name is Ahmet Durmaz. I am an SAP S/4HANA Cloud Business Processes Consultant with focus on warehouse management. As you can see, we have divided our agenda in this microlearning into two sections. Our first topic is to explain radio frequency in a nutshell, and then we will have an overview of the capabilities of RF framework. Let's start with the first point on our agenda. In SAP S4/HANA Cloud Warehouse Management, RF stands for radio frequency, which allows mobile data entry real-time communication between the warehouse employees and the SAP system. The solution is focused on real-time handling of material flow through RF scanning devices. The concept of having the screens and the business logic within the SAP system makes it easy to administrate, easy to distribute new processes to each device and easy to set up integration test scenarios. The RF transactions are only customizable regarding color and field sizes. Besides that, the provider standard of RF transaction by SAP must be used. In addition, it is important to know that the following scope items are not active by default in S/4HANA Cloud system. And without activation, you will not be able to use RF functionalities. On the right side, you can see a picture of the existing standard RF framework, which is provided by SAP. With the RF framework, you will be able to execute main warehouse processes for inbound and outbound and internal processes with queues to bundle workload and assign to resources. A standard menu is divided into five categories, which mainly groups logical transactions. In addition, you can determine several verification options for scanning purposes. Last but not least, the locks can be activated for the corresponding resource in order to get a better understanding of user behavior. Now, we will have a detailed look into the capabilities of the RF framework. Let's start with the first point. System-guided work is based on the pull principle in resource management. This means that whenever a resource has processed and confirmed its warehouse order, it requests a new warehouse order from the system. the mobile system guided transaction, then searches for the next optimal warehouse order according to the configured settings and assigns it to the resource automatically. This can be also done via searching for a specific queue, for instance inbound and outbound. The second point, manual selection, means that the resource has the option to directly select a specific warehouse order or to enter a specific handling unit number to execute the corresponding warehouse order or to select via warehouse request. Regarding the inbound process, we are able to process the putaway task into the final or next storage bin by selecting warehouse order or handling unit number and receive handling units of deliveries and advanced shipping notifications. In outbound process we have the possibility to pick the goods and to pack or repack the handling unit. Last but not least, the internal process. We can create and count an inventory document or create an ad-hoc warehouse task in order to move goods from one bin to the other storage bin. We have the option to process a query in order to display for instance stock or handling unit stock overview. Furthermore, it is possible to create an inspection lot for a specific product. The user has also the chance to change the queue and resource group. Last but not least, we can also post the handling unit difference. Before ending this microlearning, let's recap what we have covered so far. With the RF framework you will be able to execute main warehouse processes for inbound, outbound and internal processes on different devices like handheld, scanner guns, tablet or smartphone. It supports a large variety of device sizes and device types, enables personalized menus and screens with adjustment functionalities of color and field size and verification fields for warehouse resources. A standard menu is divided into five categories, which mainly groups logical transactions. Since the customizing of RF framework is pretty restricted to coloring and size adjustments of the field, the standard must be used and the standard covers the most important business transactions. Thank you for watching this microlearning. For further learnings, check out the openSAP courses. Thank you and goodbye.
