Introducing SAP Customer Data Platform Catalog

Do you want to better understand how your customers are engaging with your products and use this data to make informed business decisions? The SAP Customer Data Platform product catalog allows you to do just that. Meet Sarah, the marketing manager of a health food company called Healthy Start. Her goal is to plan targeted marketing campaigns using the existing data in her SAP Customer Data Platform environment to help her understand which customers she should include. This is where the SAP Customer Data Platform product catalog comes in. It combines product data with customer activity data, enabling her to build powerful audiences and provide customers with personalized experiences. Imagine this scenario. Sarah wants to promote Healthy Start's new vegan protein bars by offering a discount to customers who regularly purchase health products. To do this, she needs a list of customers who bought at least 10 items from the health products category in the last month. With the CDP product catalog she can achieve this in three easy steps. Step one. Sarah uploads Healthy Starts product catalog to her CDP business unit and maps it to the CDP product schema. To do this she goes to the product catalog and selects create new catalog. She enters her name, a description, and an icon for her catalog. She then selects the storage service where the CSV file containing her catalog is stored and provides the catalog file name and her authentication details to the storage service. In the next step, she could drag and drop a JSON file containing her catalog schema structure, but she prefers to create the catalog schema manually. She adds the schema attributes based on the column headers defined in her CSV file. Then she maps her product schema attributes she defined earlier to the corresponding CDP product schema attributes and chooses save and upload. She has quick access to all her catalogs in the product catalog screen and she can update, delete, and check the status of each catalog. Step 2. She creates a link between the CDP activity and product schemas, linking the orders activity to the product ID. To do this, she opens the activity schema from the customer schema's menu, goes to the activity schema, and locates the orders activity. From the actions menu, she chooses link to product and links it to the product ID stored in the order. The linked attribute is now marked by this icon. Step 3. Now she's ready to build her audience. She goes to Audiences and drags any orders activity attribute onto the canvas to trigger the activity query builder. She sees the product catalog attributes in the orders activity schema under product enrichment. As she wants to filter for customers who bought at least 10 items from the health products category, she drags and drops the category attribute, enters health products, and sets the calculation to a count of at least 10. She then sets the query time frame for the last month. Voila! Sarah can now target her new audience with a campaign, offering a 10% discount code off the new vegan protein bars. Using the product catalog, Sarah has gained insights that lead her to a deeper customer understanding and improved engagement.
