Managing CronJobs in SAP Commerce Cloud

Hello! In this video, I'd like to give you a quick introduction to CronJobs in SAP Commerce Cloud.  So, what are "CronJobs"? CronJobs provide a mechanism for executing background tasks, which are normally run periodically.  CronJobs can be Performed at a certain time such as 16:05, or at fixed intervals.  CronJobs can be used in many scenarios, such as backups, synchronizing catalog versions, Solr indexing, Imports and Exports.  Let's talk more about CronJobs from a technical perspective.  CronJobs are comprised of three principal components. The CronJob encapsulates runtime information, for example, which Product are we synchronizing?  The Job is responsible for providing the business logic. And the Trigger will determine when to run CronJob.  CronJobs can be run in a number of different ways. Such as using Backoffice, API invocation, Ant, Impex, WebServices, and scripts.  Next, we'll demonstrate how to create and run CronJobs in Backoffice.  To begin with, we'll create a new Product in the Staged catalog version. Next, we'll create a new CronJob instance. This will be responsible for synchronizing from the Staged version to the Online version.  And finally, we'll run this CronJob, which will create a corresponding Product in the Online catalog version.  Now, let's do it step by step.  We'll begin by going to our hybris-bin-platform directory in any command line window.  Let's start the "Commerce server" by runnning this command in Mac or Linux,  or this command in Windows.  Once the server has completed start-up, we'll go to a browser,  open Backoffice via this URL,  and log in to Backoffice as "admin".  Then in the Explorer Tree, navigate to Catalog→Products.  Now, let's click the + icon to create a new Product.  A "Create New Product" window is shown,  We'll set Article Number to 'demoProduct', Catalog version to "Apparel Product Catalog: Staged".  In the search box, input "demoProduct", and click "search".  Only one product will be shown, with catalog version 'Apparel Product Catalog:Staged'.  Next, In the Explorer Tree, we'll navigate to System→Background Processes→CronJobs  and click the little triangle icon next to the + sign.  A dropdown list appears. Now, let's click the little triangle icon next to CronJob,  then the little triangle icon next to "Planned item synchronization",  and choose Multithreaded Synchronization. A Create New Multithreaded Synchronization window will be shown.  Let's set the Job definition field to "sync apparelProductCatalog:Staged->Online"  set Code to "demoCronjob"  and finally click "done".  Now it's time to run our new CronJob.  We'll enter "demoCronjob" in the search box and click "search".  Then select our newly created CronJob.  Now, let's click the Run CronJob button.  A Run CronJob window pops up, and we click "yes".  In the Explorer Tree, let's navigate to Catalog→Products.  Input 'demoProduct' in the search box and click "search". This time, two 'demoProduct's will be shown:  One with catalog version: "Apparel Product Catalog: staged",  and the other with "Apparel Product Catalog: online".  This proves our new CronJob has run successfully!  More details can be found in the SAP Commerce help page.  Thanks for watching!
