Welcome to this micro-learning on how to monitor SAP Fiori Launchpad content using the App Inspector tool. In this micro-learning, we will dive into the App Inspector tool, exploring its main features, benefits, and what you need before getting started. You will also watch a system demo, and we will wrap up with essential takeaways and helpful resources to boost your learning journey. Let's begin with an overview. The App Inspector is a support tool integrated into the SAP Fiori Launchpad for SAP S/4HANA, available in both private cloud and on-premise environments. It is specifically designed to assist administrators and technical support teams in diagnosing and resolving configuration and authorization issues within SAP Fiori Launchpad applications. Building upon the foundation of the app support tool, AppID, F4914, the app inspector enhances functionality by offering a comprehensive system-wide application catalog along with advanced search and inspection features. This tool accommodates various application types, including SAPUI5 Fiori apps, WebDynpro, WebClient UI, Transactions, and Custom Tiles. Notably, starting with SAP S/4HANA 2025, users can launch the App Inspector directly from the Fiori Launchpad home through the app support entry, eliminating the need to open a specific application beforehand. Let's explore the main features of the App Inspector tool. This tool offers a comprehensive catalog of all applications present in the system. It enables efficient searching of apps based on user assignments. Additionally, it provides detailed technical information for each app, such as the Fiori app ID, component details, intent, target mapping source, system alias, and OData services. Administrators can also view authorization errors for the current or other users, managed through the authorization object S_FLP_AS.  We will delve deeper into these aspects in the upcoming slides. The screenshots illustrate how an administrator can access detailed app information, manage assignments, and oversee integrations, including client ID verification and intent analysis. This tool empowers administrators to perform comprehensive health and configuration checks, covering app settings, front-end and backend server status, OData services status, ICF node status, and system alias validations. Additionally, administrators gain access to SAP gateway logs, runtime error logs, and launchpad trace files, which can be downloaded and shared with other administrators for collaborative troubleshooting and maintenance. To gain access to this tool, assign the authorization object S_FLP_AS with the field SUI_ADEDS set to value ADEPPLICATIONLIST. This need to be assigned to the appropriate role. As an administrator, ensure the field SUI_ADEUS is set to 'All' to enable viewing of logs from other users. In addition to the necessary authorizations outlined previously, please verify that your role includes the assignment from the Technical Catalog SAP_TC_FLP_COMMON for the SAP Fiori ID F7737. To accomplish this, you must create a custom business catalog and incorporate the app F7737, titled App Support, App Inspector within it. Additionally, ensure that the OData V4 Service Group SUI_FLP_APP_INS is activated in your system to enable proper functionality. Terry, an IT administrator, efficiently addresses SAP Fiori challenges and appreciates how the App Inspector streamlines his tasks. Within the App Inspector, Terry can effectively troubleshoot launchpad content issues, including SAP Fiori applications, WebGUI transactions, ABAP WebDynpro applications, and more. Let's explore the App Inspector through a demonstration. Franz Musterman plays a crucial role in his organization as a purchaser, managing all activities related to purchase order processing. His daily routine begins with accessing the Purchase Order Purchasing page, where he has a suite of apps at his disposal to efficiently handle his responsibilities. These apps not only allow him to manage and monitor purchase orders, but also provide valuable insights through various KPI analysis tools. One of the key apps he frequently uses is the Manage Purchase Orders app, which helps him keep track of existing orders and initiate new ones. However, Franz recently encountered an unexpected issue when the app displayed a no-data -found message, which was unusual since it had been functioning smoothly before. Curious and concerned about the sudden change, Franz attempted to create a new purchase order but was immediately met with a no authorization error. This, upon further inspection, he noticed additional issues related to the service, which added to his confusion. Not knowing the exact cause, Franz decided to close the error dialog. He then clicks on his name and notes down the app ID for Manage Purchase Orders app. he decides to proceed and goes on to check other related apps such as mass changes to purchase orders and purchase order items in the Fiori launchpad. Unfortunately, this app also showed the same no data found message confirming that the problem was widespread and not isolated to a single app. To ensure proper reporting, Franz carefully notes down the app ID of this app to provide detailed information to the IT administrator. Franz promptly informed Terry, the IT administrator, about the issues he was facing with the purchase order apps and shared the relevant app IDs for reference. Terry, eager to resolve the problem, logged into the SAP Fiori launchpad and accessed the App Support option, which launched the powerful App Inspector tool. This tool is designed to help IT administrators diagnose and troubleshoot app -related issues effectively. By clicking Go, Terry was able to view a comprehensive list of apps reporting various issues, including those related to Franz's user account. To narrow down the search, Terry filtered the results by Franz's username, which significantly reduced the number of apps displayed, allowing him to focus on the problematic ones. He selects an item to check the details on the right. Focusing on the Manage Purchase Orders app, Terry filtered the logs by the specific app ID to isolate the relevant data. He then selected the app from the left panel and used the Switch User feature to view logs specifically for Franz Musterman. This detailed view provided Terry with comprehensive information about the app's performance and any errors encountered. Upon reviewing the logs, Terry found that the app had been activated correctly and that all catalog and role assignments were in place. The Checks section showed all green indicators, confirming that OData services and other essential components were active and functioning as expected. This initial analysis suggested that the app itself was not the root cause of the problem. As Terry delved deeper into the logs, he discovered numerous authorization errors linked to Franz's user ID, which explained the no authorization messages Franz had encountered. Additionally, there were several gateway errors reported, although no runtime errors were present. These findings pointed towards a permissions or access issue rather than a technical malfunction within the app. To facilitate further investigation, Terry exported the authorization error logs and planned to share them with Sherry, the security administrator, who specializes in user permissions and security configurations. Terry clicks on Go to Log. With this option, he can access the SU53 transaction to view detailed authorization error reports for Franz, which he could download, and forward to Sherry for a thorough analysis. Terry also ensures that provides the Gateway Errors log to Sherry for analysis and resolution. He downloads the log into a file that he can share with Sherry later. In addition to addressing Franz's issues, Terry also reviewed logs for other users who had reported problems such as navigation intent resolution failures and target mapping misconfigurations within the SAP Fiori Launchpad. By switching to the Fiori Launchpad Intent Errors tab, he could identify and analyze these specific errors. Terry followed a similar process of downloading the relevant logs and sharing them with the Fiori administrator for further troubleshooting. This systematic approach ensures that all user-reported issues are documented and addressed efficiently, maintaining the overall health and usability of the SAP Fiori environment. Through the use of the app support and app inspector tools, Terry exemplifies how IT administrators can perform detailed checks and gain valuable insights into app performance and user issues.
