Monitoring Technologies and Processes in Dynatrace for SAP Commerce Cloud

Hello! Let’s take a look into the Technologies and Processes in Dynatrace.  Technologies and Processes provide a consolidated overview of the health and performance of all monitored technologies  in your commerce environment.   This saves you the effort of browsing multiple  technology-specific analysis views  to get the information you need.   Select Technologies and processes  under Infrastructure  to see the technology or process group  overview page.  This page is organized around tiles.  In each tile, you can see the number of process groups and their instances based on the same technology or application type in your environment. E.g., there are 5 process groups and 9 related instances based on Apache Tomcat,  or 2 process groups and 4 instances related to Apache HTTP Server.   These technologies or application types,  together with many others,  are automatically detected by Dynatrace.  You can select a technology or application type, e.g. “Apache Tomcat” in the list  to show the related process groups.  For each process group, some essential comprehensive metrics are displayed, such as: CPU usage related to system performance, connectivity and retransmissions related to networking quality. technology-specific suspension rate.   Here, the tomcat accelerator storefront process group consumes 0.08% of CPU  while the others are consuming 0.03% to 0.09% You can click on any process group  to go to the process group view.  Here you can check out the automatically detected properties and inferred tags related to the selected process group.  Here we can see Tags with key as aspect  and value with accelerator storefront  and key as owner and value as customer have been configured and enabled.  Similarly in tomcat background processing same or more tags with same or different grouping values are observed.  The tomcat accelerator storefront process group is being called by 4 process groups like tomcat backgroundprocessing, tomcat api, tomcat accelerator storefront, tomcat backoffice   Tomcat accelerator storefront process group  is calling 4 process groups tomcat backgroundprocessing, tomcat api, zookeeper, tomcat accelerator storefront. Here the tomcat accelerator storefront process group is running on these 2 hosts.  You can also display important charts  in the category of system performance,  networking or technology-specific metrics,   use the drop-down list to select CPU usage, memory usage, I/O activities  and web requests, etc., to check the data according to your needs.  Furthermore, you can also see the related process instances in this process group.  Clicking on any of them will direct you to the process view page of the selected process.  Similar to the process group view,  you can see the automatically detected  properties and tags, as well as the interaction diagram of the process with other processes.   With the predefined tabs,  you can show important charts of the process related to system performance, JVM metrics, AppServer metrics, Cronjobs, Caches.  For further charts, please click into the Further details and check.   Now let’s come back to the process view page.   On the right hand side, further important information related to the process is displayed,  such as: The Problem notification field,  currently no problems for the selected time frame. But please remember,  you can always adjust the time frame to another timeframe to check the historical data.  The Availability field, showing the availability status of the process in the selected time frame.  And finally, the Events field, showing the events triggered related to the current process.  E.g. there might be 6 custom infos with “Out of memory kill” published,  followed by the process restart event as the process needs to be restarted to solve the “Out of memory” problems. That’s it for Technologies and Processes!  Thanks for watching!
