Performing an Advanced Search in SAP Incentive Management

Hello and welcome. In this video, I'll show you how to use the advanced search in SAP Incentive Management. Most workspaces in Incentive Management offer an advanced search feature to run filtered searches. Use the advanced search when using criteria that are not included in the quick search bar, when searching for data based on multiple criteria, and when searching for a range of data. Advanced search has two modes: basic and advanced. Basic mode uses an intuitive graphical interface in which you can select multiple criteria in a single workspace, select whether to combine logical criteria, sort results, and save searches for future use. Advanced mode uses an SQL-like interface to build searches for data across multiple workspaces, and allows you to combine logical criteria in a single search. Let's look at an example of an advanced search where we can use basic mode. I'd like to find all participants with a base salary of at least 80,000 US dollars and a sales status of GOLD. I'll start in the participants workspace. Selecting the advanced search open arrow opens the search window. Since both criteria must be met, I'll leave all search criteria selected. I'll click the first field name menu and change it to base salary. I'll set the operator to greater than or equal to. I'll enter 80,000 and select USD for the data type. I'll select the plus sign to add the second criteria. I'll set the second field name to Sales Status, set the operator to equals, and enter GOLD in the value field. I can also sort the records in the sort results by section. I'll set the field name to base salary and select descending. Then I'll choose apply. I can also save the search. I'll open the advanced search panel again and choose save. In the Save Filter pop-up, I'll define whether this is a public or personal search, give it a name, and choose Save. Now even if I reset the search, I can select the saved search and choose Apply to reload the criteria. Now let's do a search in advanced mode. I want to find all records that meet a more complex criteria: all participants who meet the first criteria, and who have a bonus level of 1 or 2. Since this requires that the same search uses clauses that are both inclusive and exclusive, I need to use advanced mode. Starting from my original search, I'll set advanced mode to on. Notice that my original criteria are now converted to an SQL-like format. Moving to the end of the expression, I'll type AND, then add a new clause. I'll separate this one from the first by putting it in parentheses. I'll enter Participant and select Bonus Level. I'll enter an equal sign, one for the value, then select integer as the unit type. Then I'll enter OR, then Participant. I'll select Bonus Level again, enter an equal sign, enter 2 for the value, then select integer as the unit type. I'll close this part of the expression with a parenthesis. Selecting apply returns all records that meet our criteria. To clear my search, I can either select the X to the right of the expression, or select the simple search icon at the top of the window.
