SAP Cloud Integration Configuration Part 1: Integrating SAP Sales and Service Cloud with SAP S/4HANA Cloud using SAP Cloud Integration

The configuration of SAP Cloud Integration is split into two videos. In this video we’ll prepare credentials that we will use for authentication towards other systems and copy the integration package into our workspace. In the second part, we are going to configure and deploy all necessary integration flows. Let’s start with the credentials. In our scenario every call to another system goes along with authentication. That means when SAP Sales and Service Cloud or SAP S/4HANA send a message to SAP Cloud Integration, they must authenticate and the same must happen when SAP Cloud Integration delivers the message to the final receiver system. For the connection from SAP Sales and Service Cloud  or SAP S/4HANA Cloud towards SAP Cloud Integration we use Client Certificates. During the configuration of S/4HANA we have already downloaded its client certificate and we will upload it soon in SAP Cloud Integration. We will also prepare Sales and Service Cloud for that in this video. For the connection from SAP Cloud Integration towards the final receiver system we will use basic authentication, that means username and password. For S/4HANA the user has already been prepared. In the video we have created the user "CODINTEG". For SAP Sales and Service Cloud we will do this in the next video. We strongly recommend using client certificates over basic authentication wherever possible, because certificate-based authentication is more secure. Basic authentication is usually used at the beginning of projects in test environments because it is easier to set up. In this video we are showing both. Alright. Let’s login to SAP Cloud Integration and create the user credentials that we need for our scenarios. We can do this in the Monitoring area of Cloud Integration in Manage Security Material. First, we will create the user credential for the S/4HANA user. Select Create and choose User Credential. In the dialog we must enter a name for the credential. This name will be used later in integration flows to reference it. You can compose the name however you want. A common approach is to include the target system and the username itself somehow. We decide for a combination of system ID of our S/4 system and the username of the integration user. Take a note of the credential name. We will need it in the next steps. Then we enter in the username and the password and select Deploy.  We can see the new entry at the top of the list and after a quick Refresh we can see the status Deployed in green. That’s it for S/4 HANA. Now we are going to create the user credential for Sales and Service Cloud. That’s a bit tricky because we haven’t configured Sales and Service Cloud yet. And this is something that you would usually not do in this order in a real-world project. We do this step now to have all the Cloud Integration configuration steps gathered in one video.  And we need a credential that we can reference from the integration flows during the next step. For that, the name of the credential should not change. However, the username and the password, that it contains, can be changed anytime later on. That means, you can come back here and change them, after you have configured Sales and Service Cloud. We create a new user credential and name it like our SAP Sales and Service Cloud system ID. This name you already know, plus the name, that the technical communication user will have. Because in this demo we know it already. Saying that, we have to mention, that in Sales and Service Cloud the username will be generated automatically based on the communication system name. In our case the username starts with an underscore instead with the zero. So, we put it into the username field and enter a password, that we will assign to this user later in the configuration of Sales and Service Cloud. As mentioned, the credential name does not need to reflect the username. The user and password can still be changed later on. Save the credential and take a note of its name and the password.  Now we have to visit SAP Sales and Service Cloud shortly to download the client certificate from there, so that we can use it in integration flows during the next steps. The most common way to get the client certificate from SAP Sales and Service Cloud is to download it from a communication arrangement. As we haven’t setup communication arrangements so far, we will download it from another place. Login to SAP Sales and Service Cloud and navigate to the work center Administrator, view Communication Certificates. There we can simply select Download Tenant Certificate which is the client certificate. Save it with a speaking name.  As the last step in preparing the credentials, we need the S4 client certificate. In case you haven’t downloaded the certificate yet, you can do so on the Communication System configuration screen in S/4. Scroll down to the Outbound User and select the Client Certificate. Choose “Download Certificate” and enter a meaningful name, like “S4 Certificate”. That concludes the credential preparation. Now we can move on to the actual integration content and first of all: copy the package to our workspace. Navigate to the Discover view and search for the package: SAP Cloud for Customer Integration with SAP S/4HANA Cloud.  Make sure you select the package that mentions S/4HANA Cloud. The package without the Cloud at the end is for the OnPremise version of S/4HANA. Select the package and the Overview screen of the package will appear. From there we can Copy the package to our workspace where we can also configure and deploy the integration content of the package. In case you already have a package with the same name in your workspace you will be asked to append a suffix to the package name or overwrite it. Now we can find the package in the Design area, which is our workspace where we will continue with the configuration and deployment of the integration flows. See you in the second part.
