Setting Up the CIAM Connector in SAP Customer Data Platform

In this video, we're going to integrate SAP Customer Data Cloud, or CDC, CIAM with SAP Customer Data Platform, or CDP, using the standard CDC connector from the application library. Once the CDC source application is created from the connector and events configured, we'll be able to pull customer accounts or profiles from CDC and ingest them into CDP. To create a connection to CDC, we would need either the API key of a CDC site or application, or a user key in secret. In the CDC console, find the site we want to integrate with and copy the API key. Then go to Administration and find an application we can use to send the CDC API calls. copy the user key and secret for later reference by the CDP source application that's all we need from the CDC side to integrate with the CDP.  Before we go the CDP console let's quickly check out the existing customer accounts in the CDC site which we will ingest into the CDP at the end of the demo. Now in the CDP console, go to Sources and choose Connect Application. From the Application Library, choose Identity Management from the left side and click Connect in the SAP Customer Data Cloud card on the right side. Enter the name and description of the source application, keep the default data quality rank as good, and toggle activated. In the authentication section, enter the user key, secret, and API key copied from the CDC partner system. Choose the data center of the CDC site from the data center drop-down. Keep the default inbound null handling as Don't Allow Null and click Create. On the source application screen, we see some predefined events created from the connector template, but none of these events are initially mapped or enabled. Let's configure and enable the first event, get a new or updated account in real time, by choosing edit from the three-dot action menu. As we will see, most of the attributes are already pre -configured and automatically mapped by the connector template. On the settings tab, choose a processing purpose and click next. On the model tab, the event schema attributes are automatically created from the connector template. Click next.  On the matching rules mapping tab the UID event attribute is already mapped to the CIAM ID profile attribute. We can drag and drop to map additional attributes as part of the matching rules. We'll click next to accept the default mapping.  On the schema mapping tab most of the event attributes are already mapped to the profile attributes from the connector template.  We can drag and drop to map additional attributes if needed. We'll click next to accept the default mapping.  On the listener tab the event listener endpoints along with the different authentication types are presented.  External systems can choose one of these avenues to send event data to the CDP.  Click done to complete the event setup. Now we enable the event from the three-dot action menu and start ingesting the CDC full accounts in real-time. Once configured and enabled, this event will be automatically triggered to pull the fully registered customer account data from CDC. After a few seconds, go to Customer Search. We can see all the existing CDC full accounts are ingested. This completes the SAP CIAM connector demo.
