Taking a Tour through the Full-Stack Application Dev Space in SAP Business Application Studio

Hi there, I'm Markus from SAP Learning, and today I'm going to take you on a tour through the full stack cloud application desk space type in the SAP Business Application Studio. Let's jump right in. You will see the Get Started page right in the center, which is the hub for starting new projects, cloning existing ones, importing project files and browsing your file system. You can also access information about your DevSpace and quickly switch back to the DevSpace Manager. Plus, you can explore sample applications with just a click. And if you ever need to revisit the Get Started page, just go to Menu, Help and Get Started. The activity bar on the left is where you will switch between different views. The menu is on top and can easily be moved to the top bar by right-clicking it. The Explorer gives you an overview of your project files and folders, and it even comes with a build-in search function. And don't worry about sharing and syncing your projects. The SAP Business Application Studio has source control built-in with Git integration. You can also configure the run and debug view to test and debug your applications. With the built-in Marketplace, you can install third-party extensions and with each dev space type, you will get pre-installed extensions right at your fingertips. At the bottom of the screen is the status bar, which provides up-to-date information about different aspects of your development process. If you want to open up a new terminal, simply drag and move the status bar upwards. This opens the panel with a new terminal where you can access the command line and view code problems, outputs and more. The quick search bar at the top is perfect for quickly jumping to files, but it can also be transformed into the command palette, the center of all your commands in the SAP Business Application Studio. With the command palette, you will have access to all of the studio's functionality, for example the SAP Fiori application generator. Now, let's try creating a new project. First, we will create a new folder for our project and in there a new JavaScript file. You will see the status bar indicators change as the studio automatically recognizes that we are writing JavaScript. I will create a simple JavaScript line that prints a greeting on the console. Then I will open the terminal and run the file using the pre-installed Node.js CLI. And if you ever need to work with multiple files, you can use the split screen editor. Simply track a view to the desired location to work in split mode. And there you have it, a quick tour through the SAP Business Application Studio. You're now able to navigate through the studio and you've gained valuable insights to jumpstart your development process.
