Uploading Data Using Migration Cockpit for Data Migration from SAP Business ByDesign to SAP S/4HANA Cloud

Hello and welcome to our microlearning session on technical data migration from SAP Business ByDesign to SAP S/4HANA Cloud. As part of Cloud Migration Factory offered by product success team, we have produced a series of sessions to enable you with the technical data migration from source ERP to S/4HANA Cloud. In this chapter, I will demonstrate how to upload the response file from the Iflow using the migration cockpit in the S/4HANA system. Agenda for the session is as follows. First, I will provide an overview of the steps to upload the output file from the Iflow to migration cockpit in your S/4HANA cloud system. Then followed by a demo where we will dive into the system. I am Shubha N R, a Product Specialist in SME Customer and Partner care team of product success unit at SAP based out of Bangalore. After you have obtained the response file from the customer Iflow, we will now upload this response file using the migration cockpit in S/4HANA cloud system. You can open the migration cockpit from an app called Migrate Your Data on the Fiori Launchpad where you will follow the guided migration procedure. Open the migration project which you have created while downloading the migration template in the previous steps and upload the response file from the Iflow. The staging tables are then prepared. Once the staging tables are ready, we will further have to process the mapping tasks. Before performing the actual data migration, it is strongly recommended to run a simulation. This simulates the data migration process without actually creating or changing data in your productive S/4HANA system. It helps you identify potential issues that might not be caught by data validation alone. Once you have successfully simulated the migration and resolved any errors, you can proceed with the actual data migration. This step will create or update data in your S/4HANA system. Let us jump into the demo where I will walk you through the process of uploading the data to the migration cockpit for the customer object by utilizing the response file from the Iflow. Let us jump into the system. Once you are logged on to your S/4HANA system, open the Fiori app, Migrate Your Data. Now search and select the previously created migration project for customers. Click on the dropdown next to Mapping Tasks and click on Upload File. Before uploading the file, ensure to open the response XML from the Iflow in the Microsoft Excel and save it. Now you can upload the file by clicking on the upload button here, select the response file from the Iflow and the file is uploaded into the system. The upload is completed when you see the status as data successfully transferred to staging tables. Let us go back and prepare the staging tables now. Click on the drop down next to mapping task and click on prepare and then select prepare staging tables. You can see the information message preparation started for more information. Choose monitoring. You can see here prepare staging tables. The status is started. You can monitor the status of the migration for the migration project. Let us go into the monitoring view. In the monitoring screen, you can view the active and completed activities. For example, prepare staging tables, transfer data to staging tables, which were the previous steps. once the staging tables are prepared click on the mapping tasks you see a lot of tasks you must select each task and check the source and target value ensure this is the right value if not select the right value by using the value help then click on confirm button complete the mapping for all the tasks in the task with error would most likely be because there is no target value you have to select the correct value by selecting the value from the value help and confirm the mapping which will dissolve the error you can also save and download the mapping tasks and reuse the same mapping while migrating the new set of data and you can also use them in different migration project now you can see all the tasks are confirmed and we are ready to migrate the data now we select the simulate step then select start simulation you will get an information message about simulation started as you see here the system will take some time to simulate the data depending on the volume of the data it is recommended to simulate the data before you migrate our simulation step is successful without any errors we will now proceed to migrate step by clicking on migrate button here and then click on start migration. You will get a warning message. Click on OK. The warning message indicates that the migration cannot be undone. And if you want to continue, click on OK. You can see the migration is now started. Under job management, you can adjust the number of jobs that are used for your project. And you can also see the number of parallel jobs that can be run for each project. The migration is now started. Under monitoring, you can see the progress of the migration. Depending on the data volume, system takes some time for migration. We can see the migration is now 100% complete and the data is successfully migrated. With that, I come to end of the demo. In this session, we have covered how to migrate data in your S/4HANA system using Migration Cockpit. Thank you for joining this learning series. We hope this session has equipped you with the knowledge and confidence to perform data migration effectively. And here is what you can look forward to in this series of learning. Learn about consuming our published Iflows from Business Accelerator Hub. Thank you and we look forward to seeing you in next chapter.
