Simple steps of self-service

The image below gives a quick snap-shot on the process to set up SAP Signavio Process Insights. We will cover each step in-depth below.

0. Understand the technical prerequisites. 1. SAP BTP. Subscribe to Application. Sap BTP Administrator. 2. SAP BTP. Create Service Instance. SAP BTP Administrator. 3. Identify Provider. Configure Identity Provider. User Administrator. 4. SAP BTP. Manage Users. User Administrator. 5. IT Network/ERP System. Setup Data Collection. IT Specialist - ERP System Administrator.

Onboarding Process

Now let's take a deeper look into what's required throughout each step.

As a new customer of SAP Signavio Process Insights, you want to understand the overall onboarding process and what steps and stages are involved to get things up and running.

Before you start to onboard as a new customer, ensure you understand and can meet the technical prerequisites.

Step 1: SAP BTP - Subscribe to Application

You've signed a contract that entitles you to use the SAP Signavio Process Insights, base package, or are entitled to use the solution as part of your RISE with SAP package. A global account is set up automatically in SAP BTP with the entitlement to SAP Signavio Process Insights preconfigured for you. This includes the entitlements for both the application and the API service.

Tip: The person in your organization named as the main IT contact in your contract is given access to the global account and is assigned the entitlements. This person is the only person who is initially the global account administrator.

Step 2: Configure Your Identify Provider

You ensure your users are added to the identity provider you're planning to use. If you use a custom identity provider, set up user groups and assign the users to your user groups.

For more information, see Configuring Your Identity Provider Service.

Step 3: SAPBTP - Manage Users

You ensure users are set up and assigned the roles they need based on role collections. Exactly how you manage users depends on what identity provider you use.

If you use the default identity provider, you ensure the users are created in the SAP BTP cockpit and are then assigned the relevant role collections. If you use a custom identity provider, you ensure that you assign your user groups to the relevant role collections.

For more information, see User Management.

Step 4: IT Network/ERP System - Set up Data Collection

You ensure your network and systems are ready for outbound HTTP communication. This involves the following tasks being completed by different specialists:

IT Specialist:

  • Ensuring that the relevant network settings are addressed.
  • Ensuring the required certificate is installed in your ERP systems.
  • ERP System Administrator: Setting up data collection and the data transfer between your managed systems and your cloud tenant. This involves the following:
    • Installing the required ST-PI and ST-A/Pl plug-ins in your ERP systems.
    • Running a report in your ERP systems to establish a connection and set up the data collection and transfer.

For more information, see Setting Up Data Collection in Managed Systems.
