Setting Up an Authorization

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to set up authorizations for an administrator

Authorization Main Switches

The authorization main switches are stored in Table T77S0 under the group name AUTSW.

You can use these switches to adjust the behavior of the authorization check on HR infotypes to meet your requirements. You can also specify the switch settings at the client level differently.

The figure Authorization Main Switches illustrates the standard switch settings.

You can use the master data check (ORGIN) and the extended check (ORGXX) together, in which case - both switches are set to 1 - or alternatively, in which case only one of the switches is set to 1.

Hint

You can configure the settings using transaction OOAC or in Customizing for Personnel Administration. Choose ToolsAuthorization ManagementEdit Authorization Main Switch.

How to Set Up Administrator Authorizations

Set Up Administrator Authorizations

Business Scenario

The personnel administrators in your company require authorizations for the HR master data infotypes. You need to assign to them appropriate authorizations while restricting permissions to change their own basic pay data.

Create authorizations for an administrator with full access to all authorization levels for the following infotypes and their subtypes: 0000–0004, 0007, 0008, 0009–0128, and 0165– 0999. Restrict their access to certain subtypes or wage types. Maintain the authorizations such that the administrators are authorized to maintain their own personnel data for the infotype 2001 Absences with the absence type 0100 Leave, but they are not authorized to maintain the infotype 0008 Basic Pay for their own personnel number.
