Persona

In this lesson, we will request access to a data product, manage the access agreement, and install a data product in SAP Datasphere shared from SAP Databricks. In the previous unit you published your own data product from SAP Databricks.

Data product data governance is a new capability that introduces a structured, auditable process for controlling access to data products across your organization. For our example auto-approval is enabled on new and select data products.

Prerequisites

  • You are logged on to SAP Datasphere.

    530_3_image10a
  3. Hide the filter panel and select Display as List in the upper right corner.

It is easier to find your data product with list display.

Review Access Agreement

You can review your access requests that are awaiting approval or have been rejected.

  1. Select Catalog & Marketplace from the side navigation area, then Data Product Access.

    530_3_image77
  2. There are no pending requests, as the Data Product is enabled for Auto-Approval.

  3. Informational, view the auto-approval action configured in the SAP Business Data Cloud Cockpit.

    Note

Your assigned user don’t have administration authorization for Data Product Management.

    530_3_image79

Access requests that have been approved become access agreements under the Agreements tab.

Install Data Product

  1. Within the access agreement, select Install Data Product.

    530_3_image82
  2. Keep the default Federation Delivery Method and select Install.

    • Federated access uses remote tables and guarantees data freshness, but may reduce performance.
    • Replication improves performance, but the freshness of your data will depend on your replication schedule.

    530_3_image83
  3. When the installation is complete, the installation status will change to Installed.

    Note

Installation and deployment can take up to one minute, and you may need to refresh the Agreements tab to view the change.

    530_3_image84

View the installed data product.

  1. Optional, view the data product in the Repository Explorer.

From the Agreement Details, select Open Data Product.

    530_3_image85

    530_3_image85
  2. In the side navigation area, select Data Builder and your assigned space .

    530_3_image06
  3. The data product is now available in your space.

Notice that the data product is in a SAP-Managed space and shared with you. The reason for this is to prevent artifact duplication. Even if the data product is installed many times by multiple users, data will be shared from SAP Databricks to SAP Datasphere only once. Also notice that it’s a remote table.

    530_3_image07
  4. Go back to Home.

Congratulations! You have successfully requested access and installed a Data Product.
