Integration with the Logistics Application Component

Before you create a new business partner and corresponding contract accounts and contracts, you enter technical master data in the system. First you enter the connection object, which is linked to the regional structure via the address. The connection object here has two apartments (premises), each with one device location. A separate installation is required for each contract concluded in move-in processing. In our business scenario this means that a total of four installations must be created:

  • One electricity installation per apartment for private electricity consumption.
  • One electricity installation for shared electricity consumption.
  • One water installation for shared electricity consumption.

The device corresponds to a piece of equipment in the Plant Maintenance (PM) application component. The device location and connection object correspond to the functional location in PM. The functional location and the equipment have been enhanced to meet the requirements of SAP S/4HANA Utilities.

  • The functional location in the Plant Maintenance (PM) application component is created automatically when you create a connection object or a device location in SAP S/4HANA Utilities. Both data objects have the same key. Once you have created a connection object, you can display the functional location in PM under LogisticsPlant MaintenanceManagement of Technical ObjectsFunctional LocationDisplay.
  • In SAP S/4HANA Utilities, the connection object and the device location are enhanced to contain utilities-specific data.
  • The logistics object functional location is enhanced to contain utilities-specific data and can be used as a connection object or device location in SAP S/4HANA Utilities.
  • Only SAP S/4HANA Utilities relevant data is shown in the SAP S/4HANA Utilities transactions. Plant maintenance relevant data is shown in the functional location display transaction.

  • The equipment record in Plant Maintenance is created automatically when you create the device and technical installation objects in SAP S/4HANA Utilities. The equipment record and the device or technical installation have the same key. Once you have created a device or technical installation, you can display the functional location in PM under SAP Fiori app, on Home pageUser Profile iconApp FinderSAP MenuSearch in SAP MenuDisplay Equipment.
  • In SAP S/4HANA Utilities, the device is enhanced to contain utilities-specific data.
  • The logistics object equipment is enhanced with utilities-specific data and is used as a device in SAP S/4HANA Utilities.
