Understanding the Managed Gateway AddOn Structure in the SAP System

The AddOn for SAP Integration Suite, managed gateway for spend management and SAP Business Network, allows you to send or receive documents from SAP Ariba solutions, SAP ERP, or SAP S/4HANA (on-premise) systems. This AddOn has multiple nodes to enable you to perform necessary configuration activities in a sequential order. Within this AddOn, you will typically find nodes for Global Settings, General Settings, and Application Specific Settings.

Global Settings encompass the configuration activities needed regardless of the SAP Ariba solutions involved, such as SAP Business Network Integration, SAP Ariba Strategic Sourcing Solution Integration, or SAP Ariba Procurement Integration.

General Settings refer to the configurations required to integrate a specific SAP Ariba solution, regardless of the transactions or documents involved.

Application-specific settings involve the configuration tasks for each specific transaction or document.

When you download the AddOn from SAP Service Marketplace, a file with a ".SAR" extension is downloaded. SAP's AddOn Installation Tool(transaction code SAINT) allows users to install or upgrade the AddOn directly from their standard SAP system. You don't need to access the operating system or restart the system. Numerous import conditions are checked before installation to ensure that only a compatible AddOn is installed for the available SAP system. Follow the Instruction Wizard to complete the process. This activity is typically carried out by the SAPBASIS Admin team.
