Introduction
Installation of an intelligent application is performed using the SAP BDC Cockpit.

The installation of an intelligent application is almost entirely an automated process. Once you trigger the installation, most of the steps are carried out in the background automatically. During the installation there is a lot of background activity, so the installation might take some time to complete. Status indicators will inform you of the progress.
Note
To install an intelligent application your user must have been granted the Administrator role.
An important step in the installation of an intelligent application is to select the SAP source application that provides the data products to the intelligent application. When you select the source application, a check is performed to ensure it is at the minimum version required to support the intelligent application. If it is not at the minimum version, you cannot proceed.
During installation you must also choose the target SAP BDC formation where the intelligent application will be installed. Remember, there might be more than one formation in your SAP BDC landscape.
Note
When installing multiple intelligent applications to the same target SAP Datasphere and SAP Analytics Cloud tenants, you should install them sequentially, not in parallel. Installing the intelligent applications in parallel does not reduce the installation time.

During installation, many artifacts are generated. The sequence is as follows:
- The dependent data products are installed and data is loaded to the object store of the SAP BDC Foundation Services.
- SAP-managed spaces are automatically created in Datasphere to store the intelligent application artifacts and data.
- Replication Flows, local tables, views and analytical models are generated in the Datasphere spaces.
- A protected SAP Analytics Cloud workspace is generated.
- SAP Analytics Cloud stories are generated in the protected workspace.
- Scoped roles are generated to enable the business users.
Once all the artifacts are generated, the replication flows in the Ingestion space are executed with a Initial and Delta load type, to onboard the data from the Foundation Services to the local tables in the Ingestion space of SAP Datasphere.
Once the intelligent application has been installed, there are usually post-installation tasks to complete. The tasks will be specific for each intelligent application. For example, after installation of the Working Capital Insights intelligent application you must run the provided task chains in Datasphere to fill configuration tables. You must also setup the user access controls in Datasphere.

Once the installation is complete, the status of the intelligent application changes from Available to Installed. You can now enable the business users.

Let's install an intelligent application using a guided exercise.

Enabling the Business Users
Access for the business users to the data of an intelligent application is controlled using Data Access Control objects in SAP Datasphere. The Data Access Control objects are automatically generated for each intelligent application in the Preparation space. You must create records for these objects according to the permissions you wish to grant to the business users.
You can find the steps to setup the Data Access Controls here: Applying Row-Level Security to Data Delivered through intelligent applications
Launching an intelligent application
Once installation is complete, you can launch the intelligent application and check the stories are displaying up-to-date data.

Uninstalling an intelligent application
Intelligent applications are uninstalled when one of these conditions become true:
When the intelligent application is no longer needed by the business users. The intelligent application is manually uninstalled using the SAP BDC Cockpit.
When you lose the commercial entitlement to the Intelligent Package to which the intelligent application belongs. The intelligent application is automatically uninstalled
