Personalizing your BI Launch Pad

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to configure settings in BI Launch Pad and improve the user experience.

Settings

You can adjust some settings to personalize your experience.

To access this area, select your name in the top-right corner of the screen.

Settings menu lists User Account, Account Preferences, Application Preferences, and Appearance, with Account Preferences selected and page preferences options visible on the right.

User Account

The User Account section has three tabs.

  • The Account Information tab shows your account details, such as your full name and email address. You can also change your password.
  • The Database Credentials tab shows the data source reference available to your user account.
  • The Authorization Tokens tab lists the OAuth authentication providers that can access the SAP BI Platform. You can generate, delete, or extend tokens for all authorization references registered in the SAP BI Platform. This tab links directly to the Authorization References application in the Central Management Console.

Account Preferences

The Account Preferences section has three tabs.

  • The Page Preferences tab controls what appears in your default BI Launch Pad view.
  • The Page Customization tab lets you choose which elements appear on your homepage.
  • The Locale and Time Zone tab controls how dates, times, and numbers are shown in the BI Launch Pad. For multilingual objects in a universe, the Preferred Viewing Locale option also sets the language used to show an object's name, description, and values.

Application Preferences

The Application Preferences section lets you set options for each application. For example, in Web Intelligence, you can set drill properties, Excel save options, right-to-left orientation, or your measurement unit.

Appearance

The Appearance section shows the available themes. A theme is a set of visual styles and design elements that shape the look and feel of the application's interface. When you select a theme, you change the appearance of BI Launch Pad without affecting how it works.

Let's Summarize What You've Learned

  • Update your account information, manage database credentials, and handle authorization tokens in the User Account section.
  • Adjust account preferences, including homepage elements, default view, and locale or time zone settings.
  • Customize application-specific options, such as measurement units and save preferences, for each application.
  • Change the BI Launch Pad appearance by selecting different themes without affecting its functionality.
