Managing Document Properties

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to change Web Intelligence document behavior from properties.

Document Properties

You can use the Document Properties tab to view and change certain document properties.

Interactive dashboard tab displays a bar chart of quantity sold by state and year, with settings and data options available in the right sidebar.

The General section includes these main properties:

PropertyDescription
Created by

Shows who created the document and the creation date.

ID

Shows the document ID in the SAP BI Platform Repository.

The Statistics section includes these main properties:

PropertyDescription
Last refresh date and duration

Shows the date of the last data refresh and its duration.

Data tracking for current report

Shows if data tracking is on or off.

The Document Options section includes these main properties:

PropertyDescription
Chart animations

Turns chart animations on or off.

Hide refresh warning messages

Hides refresh warning messages when only partial data is loaded or no data has been retrieved.

Hide warning icons in the chart

Hides general warning icons to enhance readability.

Update shared elements on open

Updates shared elements in the document when you open it, if new versions are available.

The Data Options section includes these main properties:

PropertyDescription
Refresh on open

Refreshes the document with the latest data from the database each time you open it. When this option is on, data tracking does not show the difference between data before and after the refresh. All data after the refresh is treated as new because the refresh removes the old data.

Apply security filtering on open

Applies security settings to the data when you open the document, without needing to refresh it. This option is only available for documents created on a relational UNX universe with Business Security Profiles.

Let's Summarize What You've Learned

  • View and edit document properties such as creator, creation date, and document ID in the Document Properties tab.
  • Monitor document statistics, including last refresh date, duration, and data tracking status.
  • Adjust document options like chart animations, warning messages, and updating shared elements on open.
  • Configure data options to refresh data or apply security filtering each time the document is opened.
