Creating a New Custom Report

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to create a brand new, customized report in SAP Fieldglass from scratch.

Custom Reports

Custom Reports in SAP Fieldglass provide a powerful and flexible way to access and analyze data that is specific to your goals. Unlike the standard, prebuilt reports that offer quick access to commonly requested data sets, custom reports are designed from the ground up by users. This allows you to define the exact scope of the report, determine the appropriate base module and individually select each relevant data field and filter from the ground up.

Creating a custom report from scratch is the best approach when the reporting need goes beyond the structure or purpose of existing reports. This is often the case when a different base module is required, such as switching from worker-level data to invoice-level details, when it’s necessary to combine data in a new way, or aligning with new business requirements or policies. In short, if the goal, data source, or structure of the report differs significantly from what's already available, starting from scratch ensures the report is accurate, relevant, and purpose-built.

Create a Custom Report from Scratch

Brian oversees the management and day-to-day operations of the external workforce program for WorkingNet Networking Inc., a manufacturer of data networking equipment. Brian wants to create a new customized report for the Program Office team that tracks all currently open and active Job Postings and their fulfillment progress, specifically the number of open positions, the number of submitted candidates, as well as the number of hires made.

As WorkingNet’s SAP Fieldglass administrator, you’ll be creating this custom Job Posting report for Brian. Here’s how you’ll do that.
