Whenever dangerous goods are transported or stored, special safety regulations are in order and must be followed. This is also valid for the transport and storage of explosives goods as they contain great amounts of potential energy that can produce an explosion by chemical reaction of producing gases at temperatures, pressures and speeds as to cause catastrophic damage through force and/or of producing otherwise hazardous amounts of heat, light, sound, gas or smoke. Explosives contain either chemical energy, pressurized gas or nuclear energy and are for example relevant in the military context (explosive weapons, ammunition) and explosives engineering.
Because of the special precautions needed, SAP has come up with a solution to maintain safety in warehouses that store explosive goods. The solution, which is based on SAP Extended Warehouse Management, includes the planograph, a visual tool that acts as a one central source of information to get any information on a specific explosive storage location, the management of explosive storage locations and the execution of compliance checks when managing explosives stocks.
