It is possible to quickly access performance statistics for individual widgets when creating a story. This information can provide immediate feedback to help create more efficient stories. You can analyze the frontend, network, and backend time of the data source related to the widget. The Performance Analysis Report shows data source-specific warnings or recommendations.
The query analysis is available in Optimized Design Mode for charts, tables, and value driver trees when the query runtime in the back-end system exceeds 1 second.
Access the Report
In edit mode of a story, you can open the Performance Analysis Report dialog from the context menu for the widget. In the example below, you can see the menu path for a table. Launch the report by going to More Actions→Applied to Table→Warnings & Errors→Show Performance Analysis. The menu path is the same for value driver trees; however, for tables, a warning icon appears when performance analysis is available.
For charts, you would launch the report by going to More Actions→Applied to Chart→Warnings & Errors→Show Performance Analysis.
Query Analysis
The Performance Analysis Report can vary; however, its main function is to analyze widget performance across frontend, network, and backend times. Issues found are grouped into high-, medium-, and low-impact categories. The impacts and any recommendations shown are based on the system you use.
You can view additional information about frontend, network, and backend times by selecting the relevant Information icon.
The report aims to provide additional support to the story designer, but it's not meant to be the only tool used in the performance analysis of a story. Query analysis at the widget level should be used in conjunction with other tools, reports, and best practices in SAP Analytics Cloud.
