SAP Responsible Design and Production allows packaging engineers to set their own circular design rules or guides and check their packaging portfolio against it. The circular design rules could be internal design guides, rules, or key performance indicators (KPIs), or even some external rules that a company might like to follow, such as the Consumer Goods Forum "Golden Rules" for design, or rules set by their customers.
The solution will check packaging compositions against these rules. The rules can be set either at the product level for a single piece of packaging, or they could be set for a group of products (a product category), or set across all product lines that a company makes. This means the feature can be used by packaging engineers, brand managers, and corporate sustainability managers.
You can run any goal or KPI based on the parameters recorded in SAP Responsible Design and Production. As long as it’s in the system, you can set any rules you like to check if packaging complies with your design goals. For example, you could have a goal for recycled content, or that you don’t want certain materials to be used in packaging.
