The overachieving goal of your onboarding is to enable you to create value for your organization with SAP LeanIX. We will do this with a "learning-by-doing-approach", i.e. you will be guided to take real actions in and outside your workspace, using real data, engaging with real colleagues, and taking real decisions. While this approach might sound a bit scary at first, it offers key benefits to you: you learn how to put theory into practice and generate first results that can be showcased to your stakeholders while still being supported by SAP LeanIX onboarding resources. To this end, we have designed the following coursed combined in one learning path:

  1. Get started with your SAP LeanIX Onboarding
  2. Add first data to your Workspace
  3. Get your stakeholders on board, enrich data and take first decisions

But before discovering your onboarding journey in detail, you should get a first impression of what SAP LeanIX actually is.

SAP LeanIX is a SaaS Application that allows you to manage and optimize enterprise architecture. Enterprise Architecture Management involves aligning an organization's IT infrastructure and systems with its business strategy and objectives.

During this instructor-led kick-off session, the Customer Success Onboarding Manager welcomed you to SAP LeanIX and provided the first overview of your onboarding journey.During the second course, you are going to achieve the following milestones:
  • You are ready to navigate your SAP LeanIX Onboarding
  • You have set up User Access to SAP LeanIX
During the second course, you are going to achieve the following milestones:
  • You are ready to start adding data to SAP LeanIX
  • You have added Business Capabilities to your Workspace
  • You have added Organizations to your workspace
  • You have added Applications & Relations to your Workspace
During the third course, you are going to achieve the following milestones:
  • Fact Sheet Owners have enriched your data
  • You have taken first decisions and showcased value to key stakeholders
Participation in the kick-off session is mandatory before starting this onboarding path and should already be completed.This course should be completed within one week from now onwards.This course should be completed within three weeks from now onwards.This course should be completed within four weeks from now onwards.
Onboarding Q&A sessions:
To address any outstanding inquiries during the onboarding process, we encourage your participation in the scheduled instructor-led Q&A sessions. You will soon receive four optional calendar invites, providing flexibility for your engagement. There are two available options for addressing questions related to Course #1, and Course #2 and an additional two options specifically designated for inquiries pertaining to Course #3.

1. Your commitment

Our goal is to make your self-paced onboarding journey a success! In order to fulfil this goal, your commitment is crucial. We will equip you with the information necessary to complete your onboarding most efficiently and effectively. From your end, it is required to be mindful of the following 3Ts, contributing to your SAP LeanIX onboarding success:

  • Time:

    This self-paced onboarding journey requires a certain and continuous time investment on your end. Your onboarding, consisting of three courses, should be completed within a maximum of six weeks.

    We recommend the following timeline as a guide:

    Core Team

    SAP LeanIX is a collaborative tool, and this collaboration begins during onboarding. We encourage you to involve your core team, consisting of colleagues who primarily work with SAP LeanIX, right from the start. In Course #3, you will receive a detailed introduction on how to onboard additional stakeholders, along with helpful enablement material.

    Throughout the onboarding course you will already involve relevant people beyond your core team:

    Senior sponsor: Management/C-level

    The success of SAP LeanIX in your organization requires support from a (very) senior sponsor, ideally VP or C-level. This management sponsor should have enough decision and disciplinary authority to push an organization to use SAP LeanIX. During onboarding, the sponsor will be important for following purposes (mainly in Course #2 & Course #3):

    • sponsor roll-out of SAP LeanIX in organization (call-to-actions and reminders for data input)
    • help to identify and convince relevant users and groups
    • have clear objectives and business purposes of SAP LeanIX
    Contributors for data: Fact Sheet Owners

    SAP LeanIX is a central tool for Enterprise Architecture that requires decentralized data collection on information. Usually Application Owners, Product Owners, etc. that work in roles with knowledge about IT information of Applications need to provide this information to create the overall picture of an IT landscape. In SAP LeanIX, we often refer to them as Fact Sheet Owner.

    During onboarding, you will have to involve them to contribute important data to SAP LeanIX (Course #3).

    Your task:

    Align with your senior sponsor within a meeting or kick-off to plan long-term vision of SAP LeanIX in the organization. Outcomes of this meeting should be:

    1. secure their support in the wider organization and ensure they will sponsor call-to-actions for good data quality in SAP LeanIX
    2. to get an overview of his current priorities and potential needs from the Enterprise Architecture team

  • Trust:

    We will provide you with all relevant information during onboarding at the time it becomes pertinent. There is no need to seek solutions or answers independently. Please follow the guided approach and consider the support options offered at the appropriate time.

2. Self-paced onboarding set up

This onboarding process requires a hands-on mindset, as you will be guided to fulfill given tasks in your own workspace.

When accessing a course via LeanIX Academy (https://academy.leanix.net), your profile is anonymozed by default due to privacy policy. To ensure the best onboarding support, please follow the instructions below. This will enable your Customer Success Onboarding Manager to understand your current state and provide quick assistance in case of questions.

Login to your LeanIX workspace and navigate to the "?" in the upper right corner, then click "LeanIX Academy".

Go to the "My Profile" page..

Step 3 - Update/Change Name

Change your name in the text box. By default, the value there should be "LeanIX User" and the encrypted email address. You are able to change the name, but NOT the email address.

Step 4 - Update

Click "Update". On the page, you see the disclaimer on how LeanIX treats the information you just entered.

Your LeanIX Academy profile is now personalized.
