The status of a modular questionnaire project changes throughout its lifecycle. Modular questionnaire projects contain separate Questionnaire Status and Questionnaire Update Status fields to track these changes. Status changes occur in the Questionnaire Status field for new questionnaires. Once the recipient has updated the key questionnaire at least once, status changes happen in the Questionnaire Update Status field.

About Modular Questionnaire Project Statuses
Status Flow for New Modular Questionnaire Projects
During the lifecycle of a new modular questionnaire project, its Questionnaire Status progresses from Not Responded to Approved or Denied. If the project has an expiration schedule or includes certificate questions that expire, the questionnaire may also have an Expiring or Expired status.
The following table shows the statuses that a new modular questionnaire can move through based on the actions taken upon it:

If the modular questionnaire project includes internal forms, the action refers to the key questionnaire, which is the main questionnaire in the project, unless noted otherwise.

For a new questionnaire, reminder notifications for an upcoming expiration have been sent in one of the following circumstances:
If both of these circumstances occur in the same questionnaire, and the certificate's reminders are sent before the questionnaire's reminders, the certificate's reminders trigger the status change for the questionnaire. Note Certificate management features aren't supported in internal forms. | Approved to Expiring |
One of the following expiration dates has passed in a new questionnaire:

Status Flow for Modular Questionnaire Project Updates
During an update, modular questionnaire project status changes occur in the Questionnaire Update Status field, while the Questionnaire Status field remains unchanged.
