Meet the Experts

The following speakers and experts will present the course content to you:

Instructor Bettina Laugwitz

Bettina Laugwitz leads AI ethics at SAP from within the Business AI Product Engineering team.

Her focus is on translating AI ethics into concrete requirements and driving efficiency in the development of AI ethics-compliant software. The collaboration of experts from different domains, including software development, data science, legal, and human-centered research, is key to ensuring an AI ethics approach that is relevant and effective.

Bettina holds a PhD in cognitive psychology.

Instructor Khawla Mallat

Khawla Mallat is a member of the Corporate Sustainability team and reports to the Chief Sustainability Officer. Her main focus is on AI ethics governance at SAP.

Khawla has technical experience in responsible AI and AI ethics from both an academic and an industrial perspective, having helped address ethical risks in SAP products and implement effective mitigations at scale. Previously, she led research in trustworthy AI at SAP Security Research.

Khawla holds a PhD in machine learning and computer vision.

nstructor Vikram Nagendra

Vikram Nagendra is a member of the Corporate Sustainability team and reports to the Chief Sustainability Officer. He has experience in core sustainability topics like environmental and social impact measurement and valuation, holistic steering and reporting, AI ethics, and sustainability thought leadership.

Vikram is currently driving the AI ethics governance topic together with the Business AI unit.

Instructor Daniel Schmid

As SAP’s Chief Sustainability Officer, Daniel Schmid has been globally responsible for sustainability at SAP SE since 2014.

Daniel started his career in CRM consulting and held various senior management positions within SAP Consulting. He then joined the sustainability leadership team, established in 2009 to start SAP’s sustainability journey, and lead the Sustainability Operations team.

Daniel is chair of the board of econsense, a forum for the sustainable development of German business.

nstructor Sherene Tan

Sherene Tan is the product owner for the Visual Inspection team at SAP Labs Singapore R&D.

In this role, she oversees the product delivery of the Visual Inspection service within SAP Digital Supply Chain, an AI-driven solution designed to assist and ultimately automate visual inspection processes in business operations.

Sherene hold dual Bachelor degrees in Computer Science and Business Administration. She is also an Early Talent at SAP.

Expert Saskia Welsch

Saskia Welsch is a part of the AI Ethics team within the Business AI unit and focuses on the technical aspects of implementing SAP’s AI ethics guiding principles and AI ethics policy. Together with her colleagues in product engineering, she explores how to incorporate responsible AI tools into SAP AI Core.

Recently, Saskia completed her Master's degree in Science and Technology Studies at the Technical University of Munich. During her studies, she researched the reciprocal relationship between technology and society.
