Object Search in the SAP BW Cockpit

The BW cockpit is the main feature of SAP BW/4HANA data maintenance, data load scheduling, and monitoring.

Searching for an Application on the BW Cockpit Home Page

The first step is to find the appropriate app for your task on the BW/4HANA home page.

Screen capture showing the search for an application by its app name.

At the home page, you can either filter a section, such as Modeling or Data Management, or use the search icon and enter a search term. Choose the desired app from the hit list.

Searching for an SAP BW/4HANA Object in an Application's Object List

Suppose, you have opened an application. Within an app, typically the first screen is a list of all objects.

Screen capture showing some examples for applying filter conditions: By technical name, by status, and free filter across all fields.

You can always search (filter) across all visible fields. Moreover, the default search allows filtering for the object name, for example in the DSO (advanced) screen element, you can enter the technical name of the ADSO you want to find. Pattern search is possible. Some criteria, such as status just offer a fix list of possible values. Filter conditions for different criteria are combined with AND, different values for the same filter area are combined with OR.

Screen capture of the Adapt Filters dialog. In addition to the technical name, criteria aggregated status, created on, last changed by, and last changed on are already chosen. Others, such as BW application or DSO description are not yet chosen.

You can adapt the filter list to add other possible criteria.
