Integrating Continuous Performance Management with Goal Management

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to define Continuous Performance Management and the link with Goal Plans.

Continuous Performance Management (CPM) Overview

Performance is not something measured only once a year. To truly impact performance positively, employees and managers should have regular check-ins to ensure employees are working on the right things in the right way. Continuous Performance Management (CPM) is a solution that enables you to get quick feedback on your work through frequent and structured conversations with your manager. It helps managers track their team members’ progress effortlessly and offers a simple way to provide coaching advice.

Integration between Continuous Performance Management and Goal Management

Link between Continuous Performance Management and the Goal Plan

As long as Continuous Performance Management is enabled in your system, from Performance Management Feature Settings, the integration with goals is automatic and fully available in Goal Management.

  • Users can create and view activities directly from the goal plan, on the Linked Activities section. These can be set as Achievements, selecting the status to prompt an achievement creation (like Completed status).
  • A menu will allow linking the activity being created to other goals, from any of the available Goal Plan and Development Plan templates (to a maximum of 20 goals of each type).
  • Feedback is linked to the activity details and is visible from the goal plan.
Activity can be linked to multiple goals in Performance and Development.

From Continuous Performance Management, Goals can be created using the Create Goal button. The Create Goal option is only available for Performance Goals and is visible from the Activities view or in a 1:1 Meeting.

The Create Goal button is selected and highlighted, and multiple goals can be selected to link an activity.

There were some differences in the legacy version, where this integration needed to be turned on for each specific goal plan template and would only allow the display of achievements and feedback from the default goal plan or development plan.

Caution

To display read-only data about achievements linked to goals in legacy goal plans, a permission Access to Continuous Performance Management Data (only for legacy goals) needs to be granted in RBP, under User PermissionsGoals.

As we explained in the previous unit, if Continuous Performance Management is enabled, an option to create activities linked to your Goals is visible. There will be a Linked Activities section where existing activities and achievements will be visible.

The Create Activity action will be available within Linked Activities or from the Goal Card itself.
