Video Summary

The Learning Needs Management Model used in SAP SuccessFactors Learning is a comprehensive approach to managing learning and development within an organization. The following steps explain how the model works.

  1. Managers or Administrators may assign a learning entity (Items, Curricula, Programs, or Classes) to the user’s My Learning Assignments tile.
  2. Managers or Administrators may also place learning entities in Libraries.
  3. Users can browse and self-assign learning from Libraries.
  4. Once a learning event is completed, it is recorded in the user’s Learning History.
  5. Administrators can generate reports for users based on the status of assigned, in-progress, and completed learning.

To successfully implement the Learning Needs Management Model, complete the following steps:

  1. Define the learning needs by conducting a thorough assessment of employee skill gaps and identifying all training requirements. This can be done through surveys, performance evaluations, and discussions with managers and employees.
  2. Items may be added to assign courses or other non-learning events for which a history record must be maintained.
  3. Curricula may be added to group items and track the status as a singular entity. Programs may be used to present an agenda of learning to be completed by the assigned users.
  4. Classes may be scheduled to deliver instructor-led courses.
  5. If placed in a Library, learning needs can be self-assigned, assigned manually by an administrator or manager, or assigned automatically via an assignment profile or association with a Job Code.
  6. Use the SAP SuccessFactors Learning tools to add history records. This enables organizations to track training, attendance, completion, and performance.
  7. Use the comprehensive set of reporting features available in SAP SuccessFactors Learning to monitor, analyze, and optimize your training offering. They enable you to improve your learning and development initiatives by tracking learner progress, assessing training effectiveness, and making data-driven decisions.
