Workforce Analytics Connector in SAP Analytics Cloud Supports New Model
You can use the Workforce Analytics connector to populate the New Model type in SAP Analytics Cloud.
In the previous version, the Workforce Analytics connector only supported the classic account model type in SAP Analytics Cloud. The new model type aligns with source systems better than the classic account model. It improves performance, calculation capabilities, and gives you more flexibility. It works with SAP SuccessFactors Workforce Analytics on both MS SQL and SAP HANA.
Note
You should have the SAP Analytics Cloud license to use this feature. You can now add measure calculations to your model and reuse them across different stores and analytic applications as well as add them to some data action steps.
Advanced Expression Languages which already exists for datasets can now be used with the new model. You can create additional columns as well as create formulas to do your wrangling activities. You can match source and target columns through drag and drop and you can now save your data wrangling before completion and complete it at a later time.
Using the Workforce Analytics connector enables you to use the SAP Analytics Cloud metrics and dimensions from Workforce Analytics to populate workforce plans in SAP Analytics Cloud. The new model allows for faster integration and less data adjustments because you can import the measure-based data without having to transform them into accounts members.

SAP SuccessFactors Integration with Preview Environment of Workforce Analytics on SQL
You can now log on to the preview environment of Workforce Analytics on SQL tenant using your SAP SuccessFactors credentials.
Note
Previously, we reported the Enablement value as "Customer Configured." But because we suggest the knowledge and guidance of an enablement partner in Configuration Requirements, a value of "Contact Enablement Partner" is more accurate. We want to fulfill a promise with Enablement: we choose the "most expensive" value when faced with a choice and a lack of knowledge of your individual configuration or business condition. We flag it so that you can decide, based on your business environment, if you need or want an enablement partner. You must first access the SAP SuccessFactors home page to authenticate, and then navigate to the preview environment. After authenticating through SAP SuccessFactors, you can access the preview environment of Workforce Analytics on SQL tenant using a new URL. The technical details about the new URL are available in the Knowledge-based article #3249302. To access the URL, a new role-based permission is created. For more information, contact SAP Professional Services.
Note
This enhancement only applies to Workforce Analytics on SQL tenants that are integrated with SAP SuccessFactors. This integration ensures that you use the security configuration of your SAP SuccessFactors stack in the Workforce Analytics preview environment. Thus, making it secure and convenient.
Configuration Requirements
Contact SAP Professional Services to ensure that the integration settings with SAP SuccessFactors are same on both the production and the preview environments of Workforce Analytics on SQL.
Role-Based Permission Prerequisites
You have the User Permissions → Analytics permissions → Functional Permissions → Pre-Production Environment Access for Workforce Analytics on SQL permission.
What's Changed
In the current version, you can now log on to the preview environment using SAP SuccessFactors credentials. You must first navigate to SAP SuccessFactors home page to authenticate, and then you can navigate to the new URL for the Workforce Analytics preview environment. You no longer see the login dialog for username and password in the Workforce Analytics preview environment because you’re already authenticated when you accessed the SAP SuccessFactors home page. To make the navigation easy, you can create a home page card or a custom navigation link.
If you have the integration permissions, the SAP SuccessFactors Role-Based Permission page shows measures and dimensions from both Workforce Analytics production and preview environment. The measures and dimensions, which are part of only preview cube is shown with an asterisk * mark under Analytics permission.
In the previous version, you navigated to the Workforce Analytics preview URL directly and entered username and password to access the environment.

Direct Booking Nodes for Workforce Analytics on HANA Structural Dimensions
You can now configure a Direct Booking node for structural dimensions using the Dimensions Editor in Workforce Analytics on HANA.
Currently in Workforce Analytics on HANA, you can't use structural dimensions via Workforce Analytics connector to populate data in SAP Analytics Cloud because hierarchies with data directly linked to parent nodes don’t return all data. Only data records linked to leaf nodes are returned. The feature ensures that a child node is available at leaf level to which every data record can map to.

You can customize the name of the direct booking node by adding the necessary suffix along with the node label formula %NODE_LABEL%-. After you customize and configure the direct booking nodes, they appear under specific structural dimensions when you run a query. You can individually configure the direct booking nodes for the structural dimensions that require it.
Configuration Requirements
For the Direct Booking node to appear in dimensions when you create a query:
- Ensure you've enabled Workforce Analytics on HANA.
- You've run the Initial Load.
- You've enabled the required Tree Security rules for the structural dimensions.
Note
If you’re enabling or disabling direct booking nodes on a structural dimension that has Tree Security configured, then you need to readjust the role-based permissions for all permission roles. What's Changed
How It Looks Now
Example of the query result after configuring the direct booking node.

In the current version, the configured direct booking node appears as a child node under specific structural dimensions. For example, in the image above, you can see the direct booking node with the custom label Dev Manager 1 - direct reports appearing in the query result. The configured Direct Booking Node bridges the gap in the data by showing the number of direct deportees to Dev Manager 1.
How It Looked Before
Example of query result without Direct Booking nodes.

Previously, there were no child nodes available at leaf level to which every data can map to. In the example above, you can see that there are 527 people reporting to Dev Manager 1.The list only comprises of supervisors under Dev Manager 1 and doesn't include direct reporters. Thus, when you take a sum of the EOP Headcount under Dev Engineer 1, Dev lead 1, d 44, d 45 and d 47, the total comes up to 494.

Optimized Loading Time for Workforce Analytics Reports
The loading time for Workforce Analytics reports has been reduced. The report now loads the widgets in parallel making them appear on screen as they are ready.
This feature has significantly reduced the loading time for reports and also improved the loading experience for the end user.
What's Changed
In the current version, the widgets appear on-screen as they are ready and they all load in parallel. This means that the widgets will appear one after the other based on their complexity. You can analyze the components displayed on the screen while the other components load.
Previously, the screen would remain blank until the entire report loads, resulting in extended waiting time. Also, the widgets were loaded in sequence resulting in increase of the total loading time.
