Using the Connector Wizard to Enable Connectors

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to navigate through the guided Connector Wizard to enable and configure a connector.

The Integration Connector Wizard Function

If you know the data you need to integrate but aren't sure which connector you should use, you can use the Connector Wizard tile from the tiles within the Integration tools category. It helps identify which connector will meet your business and/or technical needs.

It asks a series of targeted questions that directs you to enable the appropriate connector.

The Enable Integration Connector Wizard tile selected on the Configuration Manager interface.

Use the Connector Wizard

WorkingNet needs to integrate worker data with their Human Resource information system. You, as the designated Configuration Manager for WorkingNet, are responsible for this, but you don't know which connector to use.

You'd use the Integration Connector Wizard to help determine the right connector. Here's how you'll do it:

Summary

The Integration Connector Wizard guides users through a series of targeted questions to identify which connector best meets their specific business and technical integration requirements, eliminating guesswork when selecting from multiple options.

Key Points:

  • User-Friendly Process: The wizard presents a sequential question-and-answer format that narrows down connector options based on user inputs such as data type (e.g., Worker and Work Order), integration direction (e.g., Download), and specific parameters (e.g., active records only).
  • Practical Application: In the WorkingNet example, a Configuration Manager uses the wizard to determine that the "Active Worker Single Line Download" connector is needed for integrating worker data with their HR information system.
  • Version Management: After the wizard recommends a connector, users can choose to enable a new version of the connector or select an existing version, providing flexibility in implementation.
  • Easy Enablement: The process concludes with access to the connector's details page, where users can review its status and complete final configuration by selecting the Enable button.
