Purpose of custom fields
The license management UI supports assigning four custom fields as attributes to a licensed learner.
Custom fields can be used to manage organizational attributes, which are mainly required for reporting purposes. The fields are generally used to maintain the organizational unit, the cost center, the team’s name, and similar attributes to segment the analytics data into more meaningful organizational custom segments.
The custom fields are included in selected explore and export functionalities of the learning analytics dashboard.
Assign or change custom fields of a learner
The custom fields are optional attributes that can be assigned to a learner during the license assignment process, either directly in the UI or in the upload file for license assignments.
In addition, the license management UI also supports the adjustment of custom fields after license assignment, e.g., when a new organizational unit is introduced, or the learner’s characteristics change.
Please note that an empty custom field in the UI or in the upload file will overwrite any existing custom fields of a learner with an empty value.
