Creating Formula Variables

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to Create a query with formula variables.

Formula Variable

Formula variables are used as a placeholder to provide a dynamic value in a formula, such as a percentage that changes each month. You can use formula variables in formulas and in calculated key figures.

In exceptions and conditions, you can use formula variables as flexible threshold values.

Example Use Cases for Formula Variables

  • Operands in formulas and in calculated key figures that are entered manually when the query is executed.

  • Operands in formulas and in calculated key figures that are retrieved via replacement path, for example, from an attribute or from another variable.

  • Threshold values in exceptions.

  • Threshold values in conditions.

In this example, the formula variable references the ProductID characteristic and is processed by replacement path reading the gross weight from the ProductID attribute 0GROSS_WT.
